What kind of special stuff do you do/have you done for your SO?
Things like a regular massage, cooking special meals, kind notes or unexpected gifts? Ever hooked up a special event or time going out?

2. I try to visit every 4-6 weeks or so.
Her being 2000 miles away makes it expensive, but worth it. I'm kind of a romantic sap at times, so when we actually live together, I'll do something special every now and then. The key is listening to what your SO says...

19. I do have to add the following little things...
1. I start every weekday with an nice e-mail :)
2. We talk every day. Without fail. Even if it's 5 minutes...I just love the sound of her voice. :)

3. Most of what we do is pretty low-key
But I find it really meaningful. He always makes sure the water cooler is full for me so I don't have to wrestle with a bottle. And in the winter, he makes sure there's a couple of logs in the house for a fire.

I always make sure there are ice cubes in the freezer because he likes a drink when he gets home. I leave his cup ready for his coffee in the morning. Things like that.

Sometimes he'll surprise me with a massage (he gives great massages) and we both cook special things for each other. I sometimes tuck a card or note in his lunchbox.

Yeah, those things really add a lot.

4. He lost his net connection for a day, so,
I signed onto his FFXI character and got him a Magical Pattern for a piece of Magna gear before the Elvaan Male week was over. Tell me that is not dead sexy.

7. For 30 years, I've washed the dishes. Plus the unexpected gift...
Edited on Fri Sep-07-07 07:46 PM by triguy46
Last year on a whim I bought her a pair of red Tony Lama cowboy boots. She was speechless, wore them around the house in her gym shorts for 4 hours.

Like these but used:

14. I would suggest that red cowboy boots could be an all time best surprise gift...
however, we are rural folks, and boots are appreciated perhaps more than in the big city.

8. I take good care of her each day when she is sick
And try to make her something nice to eat, get her movies to watch on her laptop in bed.

I try to buy her little surprises all the time.

I took her to Chicago once on a business trip and made sure she had a really fun time.

Each day we do for each other.

20. Nope. Even traded my Audi for it. Drove her nuts beforehand, she saying "Don't
buy anything expensive for my birthday," and me replying "I'm not going to spend any money on your present."

Her: "So, it's free?"

Me: "No, it's actually fairly expensive."

Her: "It's expensive, but you're not going to spend any money on it?"

Me: "That's exactly right."

Kind of a "Who's on first" conversation, but boy, did I enjoy torturing her. You only get to do a Grand Gesture like that once in your life if you're lucky (unless you're rich, in which case it's meaningless)..I'm glad I got to do it once.

21. Can I do one for "would you do for your SO if you had one?"
:pals: :hi:

I would love to quietly plant lots of roses and tend to them and not say why. Then later when they bloomed, secretly take as many apart as possible and make a "red carpet" to the bathtub. I'd also some in the bubble bath too as a special surprise. Okay, that might be considered lame. Well, I tried aynhow.

30. My ex is a lot like that.
We're still really good friends, but when we were dating he had a hell of a time convincing me that I was good enough for him - my previous relationship had gone really badly and my self-esteem was pretty low. He would always do the most amazingly sweet and kind things for me. I think any woman who ends up with somebody like him or you is very lucky indeed. :pals: :loveya:

22. We're not together physically...
We have a long distance relationship (for now)

But I'm here for him...anytime. To share in his triumphs (I was in the audience during his "Jeopardy" appearances). And to cheer him up if he's down.

I've sent him flowers....I've written notes expressing my undying love for him. I've even written him a poem...I told him I'm no poet...but it came from the heart.

I treasure him and I cherish our love.

And if he sees this...SHMILY.

42. Wouldn't that hurt?
Besides, I'm not the type to hit people.

And despite always making silly jokes to the effect, I really don't hit on people in real life either. :D

Most of what I'd done was based out of trite chivalry in a day and age that has transcended or devolved from such irrelevant mannerisms anyway.

36. I do the cooking; all my culinary skills are devoted to her preferences.
I'm a "meat and potatos" guy who's learned to cook
vegetarian dishes for a veggie who doesn't like
vegetables. I cook meat for myself after she goes to sleep,
like it's illegal or something.

Also, she officially has first dibs on my artwork. A few of my
best pieces never even saw the gallery; she took one look
and cried "Mine":

40. Tiger toes
I fix his computer. I run spyware, virus checks, etc.

I give him "Tiger toes." He loves 'em. Here's what you do: while significant other is lying on his/her side, you tip toe up and down the spine with your toes, inching your way up and down with your toes on either side of the spinal cord. It takes about three tiptoes up and down to make someone very relaxed and happy.
