I need to make a decision tonight about these photos...
We had a photographer come take pix of little MB here at the beach, but I can't decide which one to buy since I like them all...

Since we leave the Dominican Republic tomorrow, I need to tell the photographer tonight which ones I want so that he can deliver them to me at the airport tomorrow....

What do you think?

1. If it's only one to pick, I'd say the last one. It's the cutest.

5. that is her pick too...
:hi:
I really like the first one but she really dislikes it. I recall being her age and having my mom blow up a picture of me that I did not like...I took to it with a needle a few months later.

6. She has had a great time here, even with her slight case
of "americanitis" (she may have drank some not very clean water) and getting swimmers' ear...

7. What a hard decision! They are all beautiful!
The last one has a particularly cute smile to it. I think if I could only pick one, I'd pick that one.

Hope you are having fun!!! Missed you!!

8. Hey Midlo....
It is hard as heck to choose...I have over 300 pix to choose from - pix of me, me with Malta Mom, me with Little MB, the three of us...

I have spent the last two days trying to choose and of the tons of pix of her alone, these are the top four, and although I am really partial to the first one, the general lounge feeling is the last one....:dilemma:

9. Funny you say that, because I couldn't choose between the first
and the last. They're both beautiful.

I say print them out on your printer when you get home! :bounce:

20. Who knows - she certainly is not exposed to a lot of
mainstream tv other than disney channel and noggin, and she only reads National Geographic, but she certainly likes to ham it up for the camera - she has always been that way.

24. Immodest...?????
:wtf:

Why? Because she's wearing a dress with spaghetti straps?

Seriously, I think people have gotten a little too paranoid about reading sexual content into anything dealing with a young girl. Don't get me wrong...I've seen girls her age and younger dressed in ways I found objectionable, but, in those cases, they were wearing flashy'n'trashy, midriff-baring outfits that looked like they were trying to copy their older sister who was trying to copy Britney. Your daughter, on the other hand, is dressed in quite a classy, understated style. Possibly it's because that dress makes her look "grown-up" (meaning fit to appear at a formal social event that includes her parents and their adult friends as opposed to anything sexually alluring), and some people think anything remotely "mature" necessarily involves sexuality? Maybe they think girls should still be kept in pinafores...or, better yet, burquas! :eyes:

26. Yes. Immodest.

I don't think laying on a table is an appropriate pose for family snapshots.

I also don't like it when couples at church sit so close that they are basically cuddling.

23. I'd say buy them all...
...but, then again, I could be accused trying to maximize the income of my fellow photographers.

Those are nice images. I'm a nature photographer, not one who specializes in portraiture, but I wish I could get "people photos" that good.

30. The last one is the only natural looking one, and the best. The first three look fake,
because they are so obviously posed (that is, no one really stands that way). The last one, of course, is also posed (since it's a photo shoot), but it's a natural stance - and it's also a friendly, open, joyful stance. Angry, bitter, unfriendly, sad, etc. people don't lie down like that.

It's also beautifully composed, and has a background that helps the photo and not distracts - it offers a sense of place, but isn't anywhere near as busy as the others.

That first picture - I hate the picnic table coming out of her head. Too much background stuff, and I don't like that she's pressed right up against the left side of the photo leaving truckloads of empty space *behind* her. Empty space in front of a subject is good; behind, bad. Her shadow is also distracting. Your photographer should have known not to even take that photo, or certainly not to offer it to you - perhaps he is a beginner? Plus, if we consider photos from the standpoint of "Will we still want to look at it in twenty years and not cringe?", this one fails.

The second and third also have composition problems and so forth, and, IMO, also fail the twenty year test.

That last one, though, is a definite keeper!
