Do you sleep with a fan on?

I dont know, maybe its the ADD, but I have to have some white noise when I fall sleep. I just crank on the window fan (even in the winter, with the window shut of course) and im out like a light in 5-10. You?

I can't sleep on my right side no matter how much I want to! The fluid is in my left ear, and the bubbling and roiling is too much for me if I'm lying on my right side.

30. I have no idea how it happened, and yes, it's permanent.

I've tried everything imaginable to dry up the fluid. It's in the inner ear, so I'm stuck with it.

It doesn't hurt, but my left ear is more likely to feel plugged, and I can feel/hear the fluid when I'm on the phone or lying on the side opposite the affected ear, which drives me crazy. I also have bouts of tinnitus associated with it, though fortunately, those are few and far between. Sometimes I'll have a dizzy spell.

I rarely notice it anymore. And I do sleep with a fan on; two in fact, but it's for the breeze not noise. I'm deaf in my left ear and I sleep on my right side so most noise is blotted out anyway.

I had a large tumor on the hearing nerve that was millimeters away from eating into my brain before it was detected. Hearing nerve, balance nerve, and inner ear were removed but the tinnuitis remained. Like you, I hear it most in a very quiet room.

I have a nearly impossible time falling asleep without it. Part of it is the ear ringing but I've actually been doing it since before I got tinnitus. I've tried white noise machines but I prefer the sound of a fan. I actually was looking at a web site about tinnitus and they sell CDs of fan noise. That really cracked me up because it seems easier to just use the fan. I wonder how much electricity you save using the CD versus the actual fan. I suppose though that when you're on the road a CD might be easier.

The living room has a little box unit AC, but it's too far away from our bedroom to cool us down.

I can't sleep without it, even in winter. I like to be very cool when I sleep and my a/c is just not up to the task (plus that would cost a lot more). So I use both the ceiling fan and another fan, which is pointed right at me. I need to feel the air moving. It's very strange to be in a hotel room with no fan. Then I usually run the a/c very cold.

I also like the noise; it drowns out my neighbors; I can hear their bed, um, move if you know what I mean.

Someone once told me it was unhealthy to sleep with a fan blowing on you. I think they were full of it myself.

It used to be just to provide white noise to help me fall asleep when I was younger. Now it's an absolute necessity. I have a VERY hard time falling asleep now unless I have a fan providing white noise and blowing a cool breeze over me. 50. I used to sleep with the TV on so it wouldn't talk to me

I had recently suffered a severe concussion in a car accident back in 1987. There was an old black and white TV in my bedroom. Late at night I would "hear" it tell me in a very hushed voice "Michael, I like to watch you sleep." It really freaked me out and the only way I could get it to shut up was to leave it on tuned to a static station.

In hindsight I should have just put the damned thing in the garage, but then again, my alarm clock probably would have just taken up the slack.

My problem is that I have exceptionally acute hearing, and without a fan to provide some white noise, I'd pick up on every teeny little noise all night long. This is why I don't go camping, and I always take a fan with me to hotel rooms on trips, just in case the room has "quiet" AC. I can't sleep at all without it. I also need the air movement, though. I'm nearly always hot--I can't even sleep covered with a blanket for the first half of the night. I cover up at some point after I've been asleep for a few hours and my body temperature has dropped. I curl around the blanket instead. :)
