How can I get my husband to bring me flowers....
without asking him to bring me flowers? He should think it's his idea. :)

Other than that, I'm not sure?

Oh, in 14 years of marriage my husband has given me flowers twice-- when he got 2 coupons for 2 free bouquets. It wouldn't have been so bad if he didn't blurt out, while I was gushing my thank you, "Well, they were free." Yeah... pretty sad, huh? His excuse? The cats eat them. (sigh)

6. I got 'em once on our 17th wedding anniversary...
Beautiful roses in a gorgeous vase. Totally out of the blue and unexpected. Maybe that's why they do it to us. Make us wait so long so we'll be more appreciative. Men...you can't shoot 'em and sometimes they're okay.

10. A month before our daughter was born
I started telling my then-husband that I expected a dozen yellow roses when she was. I told him at least 4 times a week until the final week when I reminded him daily. I reminded him on the way to the hospital and it was about the last thing I told him before I went into the delivery room (he was far to fragile to go in there with me).

That's how you have to do it. When I got to my room, there were a dozen yellow roses waiting for me. :)

5. Why can't you ask him to bring you flowers?
"Gee, honey, you know what I'd love? If you brought me flowers for no reason every now and then."

What's wrong with that? Guys are not mind readers. Only moms are. :P

20. That was gonna be my suggestion
If you want flowers, go get them.
If you want to control your husband, that's a different thing entirely.

I ain't too good with flower givin either. Maybe he feels he shows that he loves you in other ways? Many men are clueless about things like that. (me included)

I either have to get them myself or give explicit orders. Better to focus on something he DOES do - this is a dangerous territory - mine brings junk food home sometimes. oh well

26. Why do you care if he thinks it's his idea
when you know it's really yours? Really, men want you to tell them what you want. They have a terrible time trying to figure it out for themselves.

35. No suggestions, but your post reminds me of a joke:
While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor say, "It is essential that husbands and wives know each other's likes and dislikes."

He addressed the man, "Can you name your wife's favorite flower?"

Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's Pillsbury, isn't it?
