My cat is ill and I'm worried sick about him.
That is why I'm in a snit today.

My apologies to EstimatedProphet and others that I got pissy with. I'm sorry, he's my baby.

1. I didn't notice...
And I've been around here, off and on, all day.

What is wrong with your cat?

5. That "cold" is likely URI.
If so, your vet will script some antibiotics and he'll be good as new before long.

Yes, matter of fact, that is a baseless suggestion hinged on extremely little information about kitty.

39. Glad your taking him
When we got the kittens Mimi had a cold then Charro got it. It takes time to get over. My vet gave us anti-biotics. That helped. But it just takes time.

Don't worry, momma! He'll be ok.

bring down her fever. Blood test results tomorrow.

Hope both kitties get better soon!

19. I suspect that one of mine is not long for this world anymore.
He's been acting very odd,not eating, not drinking, barely even moving, and when he does he staggers and seems off balance. He's been getting worse and worse, and I don't have the money to take him to a vet.

20. If I were you, I'd telephone vets, even if you have to call dozens, until
you find one who will see and treat your boy. There are many, many vets who love animals so much that they're willing to take payments.

Love and light to you and your kitty, Forkboy.

21. I'll try that,thanks.
Though the payments will have to be super small because I have approximately $60 a month to work with. The last vet I talked to wanted money just to look at him,and my father just spent almost $500 on one of his cats.I can't come close to doing that.We used to have a great vet around here who would do things totally cheap if you were really broke, but the big vets drove him out of business.

Thanks for the advice.I'll give it a go and see if anyone can help.

23. I'll light a white candle
for your boy. I understand exactly what you're going through. When CMW and I were first married, our Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger had a series of health catastrophies all in a row: an absess on his paw, inflamed gums and gum disease, colitis and his first incident crystals in his urinary tract. We were very, very fortunate to have a vet who only sent bills every two months and even then allowed us to make payments. :pals:

Actually, today he's showing more signs of life than he has in weeks, and he actually ate the spaghetti sauce I put down for him (his fave). He wasn't even touching that before. That's how I knew something was wrong in the first place. :)

Hopefully he's taking a turn for the better.Must be the good vibes you guys sent out.

I hope your cat will get better. It's hard to lose a pet, or have them sick.

34. Our lil Daisy is doing MUCH better!
She has now been up and down the stairs and actually ATE for the first time in several days. (we'd been giving her pedialite through a siringe)

The Vet more or less ruled out the fatal diseases, and with her obvious improvement she should be back to normal sometime soon. Not out of the woods yet, but VERY hopeful for the first time in a while.

Hope Devilgrrl's cat is improving too!

41. UPDATE: The cat is feeling better and seems to be back to his old annoying self.
He wasn't weezing or sneezing this morning, his eyes aren't watering and he demanded that I let him out at his customary time of 4:30 AM. He ate his chicken, then rolled around and purred loudly when I went to pet him as I was leaving for work. So, I cancelled his doctor appointment.

I hate when he freaks me out like that.

Here he is in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F71wXfu8gkY
