After a wonderfully relaxing few weeks on Cape Cod, it has been the usual panic. Over to Wisconsin for meetings (Wisconsin?), then down to Dallas for 3 days (dentist, checkups--apparently I'll live), then over to Atlanta for 2 days of recording sessions with The Freedom Toast (now THAT was fun!!), then up here to New York/NW New Jersey to visit (briefly!!) with my bro-in-law, and my two daughters. I had to run up to White Plains and some place called Mamaroneck to get my younger a daughter a car. They offered me a $400 rebate if I would finance the car with them, except that the interest payments would have amounted to four or five times that. I guess they thought I was stupid. I am, of course, stupid, but not THAT stupid. I am now back in Dallas, then up to Washington to take care of some serious stuff, visit with my brother, who will no doubt again tell me how much stuff he can't tell me, dinner with an old friend and hero (Helen Thomas), and then, finally, back over to France and on to Germany and my wife, who said over the phone she may or may not recognize me (it has been 3 weeks--a long time apart for us). If you feel a breeze, it's me panting for breath! All this within 24 days!
I was there when the Toast recorded "The Twelve Debates of Christmas." I don't know when that one will be available for public download, but it is one the funniest musical summaries of the campaign so far. It should be out before October. They are doing 10 live shows in New York City in the fall!! Howard Dean saw them at the Yearly Kos in Chicago, and wrote me that they were "sensational!" I may have to sneak back over to the States for that!
Never a dull moment? Never a moment, period!!
