Letting go..
We dropped off our youngest at college yesterday. Boy am I pretty darn sad right now. The dog has been lying at the head of the driveway all day waiting for his bud to come home. I have been tearing up all day every time I look at the dog.

Said son is now at college football camp. If the team does well, he might not be home until Christmas. He went to this school because they offer a coast guard license. He isn't enrolled in this program but he is thinking about it. He was influenced by this program because of the work of the coast guard during Hurricane Katrina.

He's a big beast of a male, but last week at camp, he sat on my lap and told me I was his No. 1 girl. He is just such a great kid, I've never had a bit of trouble from him.

All of his friends are communting to the local college. But I knew I would be a bad mom if I didn't let him go away to school and play college football. ...But...it's just so hard letting go..

1. I know
Raising confident, intelligent kids means we won't see much of them as adults. :(

Lelapin moves out in a few weeks to the dorm. The house is so empty and quiet when she's gone.

4. Lelapin's starting her Jr year
You think I'd be used to it, but you never get used to it.

I know you're proud of your son, but that doesn't make his absence any easier. :(

And I know I will be a bluddering wet rag again. I don't think it's ever easy watching them leave. Good luck to you Lizzie.

7. Oh, how I hear you...
My girls are all grown up now, but how well I remember when my oldest went off to college...

My heart hurt the entire year she was gone...

I even called my younger brother to ask him if my parents missed me when I was gone...

And they did, even though they never said anything to me about it...

Hugs to you...you're sure as heck not alone in this...

8. Thanks Peggy
The thing is if said son was a jerk, I would not be so emotional. But he is just such a joy to be around. Thanks for your hugs and telling me I am not alone. It really means a lot to me :)
