Having Dental Work done in South America
Edited on Thu Aug-16-07 04:30 PM by romantico
Has anyone ever heard of this? I am in need of some dental work.I am terrified of Dentist and have neglected my teeth for awhile now.I have heard that you can save money and have quality work done by having dental work down in South America.Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it?Just curious if this is true or an urban legend. Thanks!

1. South America? Some people I know have gone to Canada.
Saved about 50%.

But South America?
Sounds iffy.

3. Maybe I got it wrong
Maybe I'm thinking of my fear of Dentists and am thinking of Marathon Man/Nazi Dentist living in South America.LOL. I seriously thought it was South America though.

2. It would cost as a lot to fly to South America.
Mexico or Canada would be better options. Whatever you do, do your research. Cheap is nice, but not if you die.

4. Mexico is more common
Cheaper than in the US and probably almost as good.

7. My coworkers do that
One in Venezuela, one in Mexico. It costs a fraction what it costs here. However, I think both dentists involved are relatives, not just random dentists. One had a root canal for a hundred bucks or so.

I had a US dentist tell me once I needed $2000 of work. I found this hard to believe so on a vacation to Europe I visited a dentist and had a filling put in for $50. That was all I needed.
