So I'm coming out of Costco tonight
And as I maneuver my cart to the side to let the incoming people by, I see a cart with a box in it, just sitting there next to the entrance. As I wait my turn to pass, the box moves, then from the middle between the folds a kitten head pops out.
Someone wrote "Free Kitty" on the box, tossed the kitten in, and left it by the entrance to Costco. In-fucking-credible.
I mean what made the person who left the cat there think that was a good solution?
The Costco folks mentioned they were going to review the security tape, I hope they can identify the ex-owner and charge the moron with something.

1. This sounds like a job for MissMillie
I wonder if you live near each other. Is the kitty at Costco or what?

4. one of the Costco associates was leaning towards adopting him
The other associates and I were breaking down her defenses :)
If I didn't have an older, ornery cat at home already (not to mention the 2 dogs and 2 ferrets) I would have taken him in a heartbeat.

12. I know that story too well
I have 3 cats in my small 4 room apartment. (And I don't let them into my bedroom.)

I would have certainly taken him to a local adoption center (my vet runs one)

7. Hi there!
Yes, enjoying it very much. I don't know if we'll be able to schedule a meetup this time, darn it - time is just getting away from us. Seems every day we have plans to meet someone or do something.

How are you??

10. Glad you are having so much fun!
I know how family visits are -- I rarely have time to do everything on my list.
Me, I'm rather busy but yesterday I went for a long bicycle ride. The rest of the week is nose to the grindstone time.

2. That person must have been feeling awfully desperate...
What a dreadful thing to do...

I hope the kitten finds a good home...

5. I agreee, but at the same time
One of many local animal shelters is maybe 2 miles away from Costco. If your going to drive to Costco to do what they did, why not just bring him to the shelter? The kitten appeared well fed and healthy, darn cute too. Not a "runt" that someone couldn't give away, imo.

3. They probably knew that some kind soul would -have- to take it home
for fear of it being hurt, sitting there alone.

8. At the very least, the person should have taken it to a veternarian instead of a retail store!
The veternarian's office would have handled it properly. Just leaving it in front of a Costco is abandoning it. That really disappoints me. Can't people at least put 2 and 2 together?

13. That is soooo low. I hope they can charge the idiot.
The favorite method for losers around here is to "drop them off" in the country to starve to death or be taken by birds or coyotes.
