It's more that in your head, I think ones body adapts to heat and humidity too.

It's been 100 here and I'm shot. 100 degree days in Florida were nothing. Warm yes, hot yes, but not sweating every ounce of moisture out of my scalp. Yeah it was hot but one gets used to it. When it's over 85 and high humidity every day day in day out I guess you body adapts?

But now? Good gawd almighty is sucks!

How high was your high temp today???

3. It was the hottest day yet this year, at 92 degrees in W. PA.
I know many of you have it much worse, but it is so muggy. Stepping outside feels like when you open the door on the dryer and get hit in the face with hot, damp air. Ugh.

I sure hope it cools off by the time school starts! We don't have AC in our buildings.

12. you is spoilt.
I think in Florida you get used to it and don't expect better. In Wester NC (that is where you are, right?) you get so pampered by mild temperatures that in August it kind of hits hard. But that is just the gratitude month. I'm near Charlotte and it is nasty hot here, and hasn't rained in I don't know when. I think it was supposed to get to 103 today but I don't know if it actually made it, the actual temperature is irrevelant in hell, lol.

13. Welcome to NC!

I grew up in Fla (Tampa) and yes...100 degrees here is much hotter than 100 degrees in Fla. Today when I came home for lunch, the thermometer on my porch (covered, faces N) said 100 degrees, with 55% humidity. It was miserable.
My theory is that in Fla the moisture in the air comes from the Gulf and the Atlantic, and here in (inland, not coastal) NC, the moisture in the air is being pulled from me and you, the trees and ground, et cetera.

I can still handle the heat better than the cold though - thin Florida blood LOL. In the wintertime the wind blows about 100 miles an hour straight out of the north. Days like that, I pray for days like today' and days like today I try to remember the days like that!

Edited to add: don't forget to drop by the NC forum, if you haven't already!

edited to add:

This time of year the weather map shows the same thing everyday: Hazy, Hot, and Humid with a chance of evening thunderstorms.

I guess it is the dog days of summer.

16. It is really hot here.
With the heat index it was like 105, and the AC in the truck I was using was not working very well.

17. 100 degrees with a heat index of 110. Good news is that as of 10:30pm it has cooled to 90 degrees.
Tuscaloosa has a heat advisory over night.
:wtf:

18. My front porch thermometer said 102F
I stayed inside all day, except to get the mail and check the temp. It was so hot, the dog didn't even want to go outside to pee. He stood at the door and whined while his poor bladder got fuller and fuller. He finally went out after it got dark.
