So on Friday, I'm heading out to New Orleans for 3 1/2 weeks...
I'm working on a Carnival Cruise Ship, in their Show Band (Alto Sax & Clarinet). We'll be shuttling back and forth between N'awlins and Cozumel, but based on my past experiences, the majority of my time off the boat will be spent in the Port City.

Any tips? Pointers? Suggestions? Areas to avoid, or activities that cannot be left undone? Keep in mind that all of my time there will be between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM...

I'm all ears.

1. Eat lunch at
The Palace Cafe and an early dinner at Brennan's. But not on the same day. ;)

Also, you must have an oyster po' boy sammich and a cold beer to wash it down. Good eating! :)

Laissez les bon temps roulet!

Visit Jackson Square and the St. Louis catherdral too.

3. If it's not broiling hot and humid...
Go on a cemetery tour--very interesting.

Stroll down Royal St, great shops. Have a snowball (like a snow-cone but way better) from a takeout window. Go to the Verti Mart at Royal and Nicholls, and ask if they have bread pudding that day. Best ever.

5. Now THAT sounds like a pretty good job. Question:
How are your shipboard accommodations?
Pretty nice, or so-so?
