Ok, who used to love playing Four Square?
That was my game in Elementary School! Saw lots of kids in Maine playing it on the beach. How about you?

:hi:

3. I didn't.
The popular bitches would have "tea parties" and quick-spike the nerds and outcasts like me out of the game.

I sat in the far corner of the "1" square with a raised middle finger, waiting for them to do it, and got sent to the office.

That town is nothing but an old weed-pocked ruin now.

13. Thank you.
Newlywed.

And I owe you something, now that I remember.

It'll have to come in parts: the first of which is a BBQ sauce made out of a few alcoholic drinks -

33. Four square should never be co-opted by groups of people
Edited on Wed Aug-01-07 06:06 PM by janx
like the tea party females you mention. This is an individual's game. They cheated and wrecked the integrity of the game.

15. I absolutely
detest 4 square!!! :nuke:

We played it one week in PE and then suddenly the whole playground was covered with people playing 4 square. That would not be a problem, except that they took over the frigging basketball court. A basketball court should be for playing basketball :grr: and that's what I wanted to do.

It was like a fuggin virus!

17. Oh man! YES! And there was GIANT four square too,
with a larger ball and larger squares. I had forgotten all about that. I'd be crazy enough to do it today!

;-)

At home, the neighbor kids and I played two square, but it wasn't nearly as much fun.

22. Are you serious?
I didn't know the game was still around, let alone any official league! Where were you when you played it in grade school? I was in the mid west, and this was during the 60s. Was it popular in other places?

I had no idea that kids were still playing it in the 80s. And the ball in the pic...a good, rubber ball!

21. Nope. I played "kiss and kill," and "toilet monster."
The latter involved trying to pull people through a giant tractor tire, into the "toilet" below.

23. The quality of the ball was very important.
The best was a rubber ball that you could really slug with the heel of your hand.

36. I was a playground teacher right after high school, and we played it non-stop.
Remembering how much fun it was, the PE teacher and I decided to organize it at recess duty. The kids weren't even interested. How sad.
