Always remember your driver's license. You never know when you'll need it.
We had a fatality in the store today. And no, we didn't kill the guy.

Check this shit out: A customer came in to buy some lights. He was talking with our electrical guy (who we will call James--not me, man, we've got nine Jameses on our staff) about various things and they got into discussion of fruits. I have no idea why.

Right after the customer explained to James that eating bananas is good for your heart so he eats a lot of them, the dude's head kinda drooped off to the side. James is a retired Special Forces medic and he did what old SF medics do: gently lowered the man to the floor, started CPR and called for help. We got the paramedics to the store. They shocked him a few times, gave him 30 minutes of CPR, got a nice trace on the scope and took him outside. They pushed the stretcher out the door and the scope went flat. They gave him some more CPR and the hospital told them "load him up and bring him in." Bananas are not perfect.

Now here's the problem (besides the fact the man's dead): He left his wallet at home. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal...unless you're dead and the cops are trying to figure out who you are so they can notify your next of kin. They ran his prints to no avail--this was a law-abiding citizen. We finally went through the parking lot matching plates to live customers and live associates, and finally got down to one plate that didn't match anyone. The cops ran it, got the guy's description...bingo. This took two hours. If he would have had his driver's license with him, it would have taken all of five seconds.

So carry your driver's license at all times. Because you just never know.
