3. Saw the 1st movie. Don't really remember it.
But then again, "I was drunk at the time". :)

I should give it chance, but my reading list is chock full.

9. You should also read Randy Wayne White, James W. Hall and
Laurence Shames. If you like Elmore, you'll like them.

15. No, but I must say...
I'm very, very pleased to see this much hoopla over a book! A BOOK! Not a movie, not a musician, not a video game, not a new piece of gadgetry, a book!

Hooray for Harry Potter! Long live literacy! Woooooooo!

18. I've not read/seen any HP, but one of my closest friends, a college teacher, has promised each of
her children and grandchildren an immediate and painful death if anybody tries to interrupt her before she finishes reading the book once she gets her hands on it.

And two other adult friends are eagerly awaiting it. So I'm definitely feeling in a minority lately.

Actually, I was forced to watch the first half hour of the first movie, but I decided that that doesn't count.

22. I may say you are a dreamer
but you're not the only one.

Most Americans say they have never read a book since they graduated from High School. Potter is, of course, juvenile fiction, but often that can be very good, like 'If I had one wish' or 'My teacher flunked the planet' or 'Rebels in the Heavenly Kingdom'. It has the added advantage of being much easier to read than Tolstoi or even Joyce Carole Oates.

28. Harry Potter is a gateway drug...
That can easily lead to the addictive behaviors of someone who reads a lot of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Hamsun, Ibsen, Steinbeck, Hemingway, de Maupassant... you know all the heavier drugs :)

I'm all for it!

23. I saw the second movie, but haven't read any of the books... yet.
They're on my reading list. As a writer, I like to read a broad range of stuff, and the tiny snippets I've read of Rowling's grand work have, admittedly, made me curious. So I'll read them eventually, and then I'll probably watch the movies with my friends.

until 2002! They came out about the time I was born so give me 50 years and I'll get caught up! :)

29. No matter what you think of the books millions of kids will spend
this weekend reading

Why do you think they are trying to ban them.. they make kids want to read, can't have an educated populace now can we. My kids have all read them and because of them they now read for at least an hour every night. Not just fiction either, my oldest (13) has been invading my political shelf, reading Franken, Moore, Palast and others...

31. I haven't read them.
The last few years I haven't read nearly as much as I used to. Sad. Now that I spend time on the internet, I don't have time to read anymore.

Blame it on DU; no more 700-page books for me.
