Lounge women...two questions about SHOES (and two for gay men)
1. It's my understanding that many women love shoes (I've seen Sex in the City). But I also get the impression that women think that guys with shoe fetishes are odd. Is that the case? Or do you ever go, "Finally, a man that understands!"

2. Me, I rarely notice shoes myself (okay, I might notice if they're F-me pumps, but generally my attention is focused above the ankles). I truly don't understand the need for more than 10 pairs or so. To match different outfits, I guess? But why DO so many women love shoes so much?

3. Do gay men love shoes the way a lot of women do?

4. How are foot/shoe fetishists viewed in the gay community?

1. Interesting questions - I'll see if I can answer
1. I don't think I've ever met a guy with a shoe fetish so it's not something I ever thought about. I guess I might think it was odd just because it's not something I see often. Also, guys shoes aren't nearly as much fun as women's. :)

2. I have no idea what it is about shoes that I enjoy so much. I really do love them, though. I'm attracted to a shoe sale like a moth to a flame. I guess part of it is that there's so many different types of shoes - different styles, different colors, different heel heights. Open toes, closed toes, clunky heels, stilettos....

Hold that thought - I've got to run to the shoe store...... :P

By the way, KayTot is adorable! :loveya:

3. hmmmm
I have never met anyone with a shoe fetish. I lurv shoes and have an obscene number of pairs. I even have a pair that I haven't worn yet because I haven't found the dress to match (although DH said I could just wear the shoes and nothing else).

Seriously, I've heard "obscene number of pairs" before. I'm truly mystified.

Mrs. Kay has I dunno, 15 or 20 pairs? More, maybe? She also collects purses. Lots of purses.

I think I'll stop by the purse store on my way to the shoe store....

be paired with the shoes....

Ands you now owe me a keyboard...choking on coffee here....

I have over 100 pairs of shoes, all labeled, in their boxes with pix on the front so I can choose....it is the only thing I am that OCD about.

I also have lots of purses, but only enough to fill a bin under the bed. The closet is taken up by the shoes.

5. I don't really love shoes
1. I do have 2 pairs that match nice outfits that I wear once or twice a year that are colors I like so I haven't gotten rid of them yet in the event I get another outfit in the same color. I have some ankle boot type things I wear to work, sneakers for weekends, gym shoes, running shoes, and hiking shoes. I have accumulated several other pairs of various types of shoes that you have reminded me I should probably get rid of. Most women I know aren't shoe fanatics either. I'm not sure I'd think a man with a shoe fetish is odd. We all have our fetishes/quirks, right?

2. My job doesn't require looking nice all the time, but if I had that kind of job I can see accumulating lots of shoes. But since I hate shoe shopping I'd probably just get mostly neutral colors.

6. I have dozens of shoes. The reason for that is because when I try
them on in the store, they feel great. But then after an hour or so, they kill my feet. So they end up in a box in the closet along with all the other shoes that hurt my feet.

7. I love shoes, and here's why...
There are so many different styles and types of shoes that it's possible to use them as that one really fun, special part of an outfit.

Also, it doesn't matter if you're having a fat day, skinny day, bloated day, or whatever kind of day, buying shoes is always a pleasure. It's not like trying on jeans or swimsuits or dresses. Shoe shopping is almost never a traumatic experience.

A good pair of shoes can make up for a lot of ills.

I do NOT, however, have a fetish about shoes. It's about fashion, not fetish.

10. Excellent point about shoe shopping
I hate shopping for clothes - the sizes are never consistent and yeah - sometimes I'm having a fat day or whatever.

My feet are always the same size and it is fun to change the look with a pair of shoes. It's similar to changing my hairstyle - addes a different dimension to the same outfit.

well the buying of them.... I do love them.....

By a man having a shoe fetish.... are you talking like the fetish thread from yesterday??

I think a nice shoe looks great, I like the way my feet look in my shoes.....
so the thought I guess is maybe someone else will to....

or they like to buy alot of shoes.....??
If thats the case than yes FINALLY a man who understands......

I don't know why, I really don't know...

My gay friends like shoes and I would probably take them with me shoe shopping if we ever had the chance to...
but I don't think they are obsessed. My friends buy suits

11. You're right, I wasn't clear
I meant men who get off sexually on women's shoes, not men who like/buy shoes as much as women do. Usually high-heeled ones I think. Dunno, didn't read much of the Wikipedia link I myself found--too lazy/uninterested.

12. I'm not big on shoes
I generally find women more attractive in flats than heels, and no shoes at all are very sexy. Unless one has fugly feet, perhaps.

But I am neither a woman nor a gay man, so I am intruding on this thread. Never mind me.

14. I love shoes, too. Also boots. But that's a good point.
My brother has a definite weirdness about shoes. And I've often been asked if he's gay. When he was a kid, he would only wear red shoes. And then he went through a stage where he would only wear this one pair of shoes for a lot of years, if he wore any at all. He's even go outside in just socks.

But now, all he will wear is boots, has more pairs than most women and he wears them all the time even though he almost never leaves the house. Some have kind of high heels. And when my computer-knowledgeable friend ran a scan on my mother's computer (he lives with his mother, of course), he wondered why it was taking so long in this one spot where my brother had pix, so he looked. He has dozens and dozens of pix of boots on there. Just boots. Also pix of some foreign male gymnast...

22. If he's not your brother, it's funny.
As for me, he's been pretty horrible to me so I rarely see my mother. It's too bad, since he's my only sibling, but it's his choice. When I do go there, he gets uncomfortably close, and he eavesdrops, so I don't stay long. Yesterday I was in GF, so I stopped to pick up something that turned out to be a piece of junk mail and almost sprinted out the door. And then came back here and had three drinks. But I do have a lot of funny stories about him, even though he creeps me out.:scared:

My mother was in the hospital the day of Joe's father's wake, so he actually showed up there to "represent" my mother, like nobody knew... Joe was the one who had talked to her on the phone when she called to let me know! I almost keeled over when I saw him walk in and, since he won't speak to me, Joe made it a point to ask him all the things that I needed to know about what was going on with my mother and he had to answer Joe.:D

And, afterward, Joe said that, hands down, my brother was the weirdest thing about the entire experience and that's saying something about a wake...:eyes:

Does she yell at the TV, too?! I actually don't get along with my mother, either, for obvious reasons. She really does say the most hateful things. I think that she picked it up from Judge Judy, who she also watches...:eyes:

I cringe to think of how they must view the world. I never bring up politics, but, one day, I just couldn't resist and I asked my mother who was responsible for 9/11, fully expecting that she'd say Saddam Hussein. But she surprised me. She said the Palestinians!!!

She has consumed WAY too much kool-aid over the last 20 years and outsources replies to my emails from her fundie friends....

44. My mother doesn't believe in e-mail.
She said to me, just on Thursday, that she uses the phone... But I have given her my number here numerous times, and she left a message on my SO's business line, about the "mail" I received there, where he only picks up messages and nobody ever answers. Sometimes I feel as if I am dealing with people who don't speak my language, and I am, since my mother's first language is not English, though she's extremely intelligent, speaks several languages, thus my frustration... She really should know better.*sigh*

And I sure do sympathize with you about your MIL. Good luck with this and you sure have my sympathy. But I'm sure that your daughter can charm her. ;)

I get hate-mail from both my mother and my aunt about Hillary Clinton, even though she's not my first-choice candidate, and they know that, but they act as if she was my best friend...

Something on your mind, kay1864?

1) I enjoy them, but I'm not obesessed by them. Mostly I'm attracted to color.

2) I can't speak for other women, just myself. I like having different pairs for different uses: Sandals, business pumps, sexy pumps, exercise tennis shoes, work outdoors old clodhoppers, etc.

3) You'll have to ask a cross-dresser.

4) You'll have to ask them.

38. I can only address your last two questions.
I don't know about other gay men but I do love shoes. Unfortunately, I find that over 90% of men's shoes these days are hideous. I'd probably buy lots of shoes if I could actually find lots of shoes that I like. I have always been particular (and quite frankly, vain) about my shoes--even when I was a child. I've even considered designing shoes myself because I can't stand most of what's out there these days. I don't think I actually have a shoe fetish, I just appreciate a good pair of shoes when I see them.

For a long time I use to say that I have a foot fetish but I've realized that it's not so much a fetish as it is simply an appreciation for a nice pair of feet--just like some people appreciate a nice pair of legs. Some men do have really great feet and the current flip-flop craze has made summer my favorite time of year. The gay men I've dated have never had a problem with it. I don't want to do anything to their feet, I usually just want to see them.

43. For me, it's because they are fun
you can get shoes that will totally change the look of an outfit and it will be cheaper than buying a whole new outfit. Some shoes dress up your look, others dress it down. Some are just outrageously fun and make you feel happy. Others can make you feel really sexy.
I just love shoes....and I know I have too many (or so my husband says) but too bad! He didn't have to pay for any of them!

45. i love clothes -- fashion -- and shoes are
part of that.

well -- my philosophy is that anything you put on is fashion.

so i hate going out without putting thought into it.

and from my perspective -- it's like creating a sentence or paragraph -- the face or the head is the opening and the feet are the period or semicolon.

but i do hate loud coloured shoes at the end of one's feet -- that's like starting the converstaion over again with no where to go.

46. I can't speak for #3 and #4, but...
1) I like shoes. I don't LOVE shoes like some women, but I like them. :) Guys with shoe fetishes are not odd to me---I'm married to a guy with a foot fetish and a shoe fetish, so it's all good. :D

2) I don't pay a lot of attention to women's shoes when I'm in public, but there are occasional times I've seen a woman wearing a particularly nice pair of shoes and said to myself, "Damn! Those are really cool!" :) I have more than 10 pairs of shoes, but I have a tendency to wear only 3 or 4 pairs that I like a lot.
