12. Lots of educated DUers.
Wow, 83% of DUers have at least a bachelor's degree, so far in the poll results, Nationwide, only about 25% of Americans have at least a bachelor's degree, if my memory serves me correctly.

18. wow
I figured the number of people (nationally) with a college degree would be higher. I graduated high school in 93, and even then I was already being told that I should go to grad school. A PhD was kind of always a given to me. (Until I dropped out of my PhD program last year, of course...)

50. Read a study once
And I don't know if it was accurate, but it suggested that the more education a person has, the more likely they are to be a liberal. The statistics were something like 80% of high school graduates were conservatives, with the numbers decreasing until only 4% of Ph.D's were conservatives.

51. this is what I heard:
Those who have less than a college degree: ie, less than high school, only HS, MAYBE even 2-year, more likely vote Dem. Those with a 4-year more likely vote Repug. Those with higher education, but not "professional" (MBA, JD) vote Dem in massive #s. JD and MBA--more likely to be conservative. So yes... those who want education for education's sake, as opposed to just a better salary, are more likely to be liberal. As are those who are least likely to get any sort of higher ed, mostly due to socioeconomic reasons.

I only have a four-year degree, at this point, but find I get more liberal every day. One of the people I know who is equally liberal has four degrees. I think you must be correct. It must be that the least educated among us are electing the leaders of this country.:-(

13. question
Edited on Sun Aug-03-03 11:53 PM by ant
When surveys or whatever ask for your education they often list the following categories: bachelors, graduate, and post-graduate.

I've always assumed "graduate" covers masters and PhDs, which leaves me wondering what "post-graduate" might be. Is it a PhD or is it the same as what this poll calls "professional degree"? I've always been curious...figured this would be a good time to ask.

Edited for a stray conjunction.

This reminds me of a quote of karl's
I cant be sure if it's true but its pretty funny if it is

"As people do better, they start voting like Republicans...
...unless they have too much education and vote Democratic,
which proves there can be too much of a good thing."

I think there's a number of us here. I have two bachelor's and two master's degrees, and I'm thinking of getting a third masters...

This is possibly the only really great perk of being a Florida state employee: free college tuition. They also let you do a lot of the course work on-line, so you can afford to eat and pay the rent.

Of course all those intials after my name don't mean I get paid any more, but it's fun to collect them!

And, after that, if you could find a reserve position with a small police department or sheriff's office, you'd be a treasured resource.

Long ago and far away, I knew a gentleman who followed a path similar to the one you propose, so my views aren't entirely without basis.
