What is your favorite kind of liquor?
Edited on Thu Jul-19-07 11:04 PM by VoltaireAmericain
Well, currently I am treating myself to a 1.75 L of Jack Daniels and I must say it is a very smooth whiskey. I've been mixing my drinks with coca-cola and this seems to be a great cocktail.

I do like how they drip wax over the bottle for design -- like an old fashioned whiskey bottle.

5. Excellent stuff..
a little spendy, so I usually only get it when I'm feeling like I deserve to be spoiled. (otherwise, I go with Black Velvet or R&R).. but since you're obviously a bourbon kind of guy (or lady, as the case may be), I think you'd like it.. it's a little bit sweeter than JD but not nearly as sweet as Southern Comfort.

10. Jack Daniels, Sauza Tres Generaciones, Absolut Vodka
All 3 are premium spirits. As for tequila, I love Patron, but I think it's kind of overrated. Tres Generaciones (or 3 G's as I prefer to call it) is far superior.

17. Jack Daniel's +
Edited on Fri Jul-20-07 12:12 AM by some guy
ice, + a glass.

But only because it's summer.

Jack Daniel's + a glass is the best.

Happy sipping. :pals:

tips -

The first whiskey of the night: pour the glass. Take a fairly large first sip, let it sit on your tongue for 15-20 seconds, then swallow. The rest of the night, the whiskey will go down very smoothly.

If you're drinking it neat, your body will want to stop after the equivalent of 5 or 6 doubles.

If you're drinking it over ice - when it starts to go down as easy and quick as water - it's time to stop.

20. ohhhhhhh
I tried your recipe.....and my oh my am I drunk.....I have a pretty high tolerance now....which is not as fun because I liked getting drunk off only a few glasses of whiskey, but now I gotta just keep them coming, one after the other.

Anyway, do you drink other whiskey's straight? Cheaper brands?

28. I drink all whiskey
straight or on ice. I don't usually drink blended whiskeys, but I will if that's what's offered.

However, since I started with Jack Daniel's, that is what whiskey is "supposed" to taste like to me. So the further from that particular taste a whiskey is, the less I tend to like it. Irish and Scotch whiskeys get pretty far away, so I rarely drink those.

Of course, you can also cut it with water to get a fantastic 80-proof bourbon. But you should try it uncut at least once.

32. white russians and black russians, and a few variations thereof
I like White Russians for a nightcap--2 shots of vodka, a shot of kahlua, and milk (or cream, if you're a purist) to taste. If I'm having a few drinks for the evening, I like a Black Russian--traditionally vodka and kahlua, though I add that to pepsi or coke. It's good stuff. :toast:

The Colorado Bulldog, which tastes great but which I haven't had in a while, mixes Vodka, Kahlua, Milk, and Coke. (It sounds a bit disgusting, but it's tasty :9 )

Welcome to DU! :toast:

48. I like vodka
but it can go very wrong. I do odd jobs for this lady for extra money and she has me clean her mirrors with rubbing alcohol. The smell makes me somewhat queasy because I have flashbacks of drunken nights with bad vodka and the sickness that follows.

However, I'm always up for a good vodka.

Rum is okay in certain things like mojitos. Mmmmm, mojito...
