Post a cover version of a song you like.
I love this version of "Devil Went Down to Georgia" by Blues Traveler, with John Popper substituting harmonica for the violin parts.

2. There are several I like actually...
"Black" by Aaron Lewis is fantastic
"Boyz in the hood" by Dynamite Hack is great
but the king of all covers, in my humble opinion, is "Get Down, Make Love" by Nine Inch Nails

22. Not a bad version to have reverberating through the neurons, though
the whole album is a caffeine kick of it's own, and I was never a big Social D fan.

Something about the cover of Guns of Brixton is so demented sounding.. I love it!

I fel in love with the second just by reading the name! For some reason the lead singer reminds me of the lead singer of Modest Mouse in the second song.

It's Fortunate Son but I'm not sure who all is playing. Looks like Pearl Jam and Steve Earle for sure.

Ever hear the Man in Black's cover of One?

Of course, Johnny Cash could probably sing the phone book and make it sound cool.

26. John Popper rulez!
Most of the songs of his that I really like are not even on youtube, though, they are the philosophical ones like "Just Wait" "Look Around" "A Hundred Years" "The Mountains Win Again". He is such a visionary. On the other hand, I really wanted to throttle the guitar player, the solo was too loud and too long. :hi:

29. yeah, the recording isn't the greatest, but in the guitarist defense
I think this was probably a song they had rehearsed maybe once on after a long alcohol-drenched afternoon.

Popper has surprised me, not in the least by the fact that he's still around. Have you seen BT lately? I saw them a few times in the late 90s, but haven't really followed them much since. They do put on a great live show, though.

31. Funny story bout him.... I ran into him at a bar a few years ago....
... I was RIPPED. Me and my friend saw him, and I said "hey - you look like John Popper, only smaller". He said "I am John Popper", I said "You are not, you lying motherfucker"... We went back-and-forth like this about 5 times... Finally I said "I'll give you $20 if your driver's license says you're John Popper." He gave me his license, and I apologized, and gave him $20. He was TOTALLY cool about it all - he was close to as drunk as I was, so all feelings throughout all of this were good-natured - and he even gave me his harmonica - which I still have!

I love the Satellite bar just for that reason.

he did lose a bunch of weight. That is too funny. I think he's one of the most talented songwriters to come around in a very long time...and he acts like this big libertarian tough guy, but he is SO deep, really.

Oh My God I just found my favorite BT song:

Look Around, to a video of images from Deviant Art

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

edit:

I still can't get over the fact that you called John Popper a "lying motherfucker"

28. This one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQ3T43HQIlA

The power of love is a curious thing
Make a one man weep, make another man sing
Change a hawk to a little white dove
More than a feeling thats the power of love

Tougher than diamonds, rich like cream
Stronger and harder than a bad girls dream
Make a bad one good make a wrong one right
Power of love that keeps you home at night

Chorus 1 :
You dont need money, dont take fame
Dont need no credit card to ride this train
Its strong and its sudden and its cruel sometimes
But it might just save your life
Thats the power of love
Thats the power of love

First time you feel it, it might make you sad
Next time you feel it it might make you mad
But youll be glad baby when youve found
Thats the power makes the world goround

Chorus 2 :
And it dont take money, dont take fame
Dont need no credit card to ride this train
Its strong and its sudden it can be cruel sometimes
But it might just save your life

They say that all in love is fair
Yeah, but you dont care
But you know what to do
When it gets hold of you
And with a little help from above
You feel the power of love
You feel the power of love
Can you feel it ?
Hmmm

Chorus 3 :
It dont take money and it dont take fame
Dont need no credit card to ride this train
Tougher than diamonds and stronger than steel
You wont feel nothin till you feel
You feel the power, just the power of love
Thats the power, thats the power of love
You feel the power of love
You feel the power of love
Feel the power of love
