Why do super markets seem to attract the pervs?

Gah! I swear everytime i got grocery shopping at our local windixie i get harassed by some perv, and by perv i mean much older guys who hit on me and follow me around the store. today i went to the store to pick up some fruit and veggies because since i haven't been home we haven't been stocked up on them since i'm the only vegetarian in house. well, i get to the produce section and this guy walk out in front of me so i stop to let him pass so that i won't hit him and he says "excuse me." then after staring at me for a few seconds he tells me "you can go ahead and run me over if you want." wha?!? i said "what?" and he said "you can go ahead and run me over if you want, i don't mind." at first i thought he was being snarky because i did almost run the buggy into him(although it was not my fault) so I rolled my eyes and walked away. then the creep proceeds to follow me around the store until i check out. needless to say i quickly packed up my groceries in my car and got the heck out of there. ick! i don't think i should shop at the windixie anymore.

7. well that's about the mentality of some around here

many marry out of highschool and the women proceed to do nothing with their lives except raise a family - which is fine if that is what they want to do but i have known much to many who wished that they had done something else with their life before marrying right out of highschool. my bumper sticker puts my opinion out their for everyone to see: "a woman's place is in the house..... and the senate."

11. their was a cop in the store and i purposely walked by him several times

i had my cell phone in my hand the whole time because i'm paranoid about that type of thing. i know that many people in person tell me that i look older than i am, but still. this guy was in his thirties and still had on his scrubs from the hospital down the street. he obviously wasn't a younger guy who just looked older. yick!

i've had to deal with something similar to that in movie theaters. i've spoken up after a few times and have gotten the guys(a group of teenage boys at least not a grown man) thrown out of the theater. freaks

26. if you're buying groceries, the "perv" has to assume you're well into your 20s

you don't come with your age rubber-stamped on your forehead, most men figure that a young teen's MOM will do the grocery shopping, and if they see a young teen in the store, they do assume that it's someone in their 20s...so they are not necessarily a perv, they are just flirting, a lot of guys think the grocery store, when they see a young woman shopping alone, it's a pretty good clue she's single, why not flirt a little?

if someone is following you around, fine, tell the manager or the security guard, but if they are just trying to make stupid conversation, well, how else do people ever meet if they're afraid to ever speak to anyone? just ignore them, don't engage, they6'll get the clue

a man left a note on my car once at the winn dixie offering me free foot rubs, er, okay, that's fairly different, so i know it gets strange out there, but just keep your sense of humor and common sense is my advice

27. Actually Ava, they don't attract pervs, they attract nearly everyone

One of my friends used to work in a pharmacy that was inside a supermarket right on the border between a student neighborhood and a poor neighborhood. He claims he saw almost everyone he knew from the student neighborhood, and that he recognized a lot of people in the area just from their being in the supermarket. He wasn't alone in this insight: the local cops were aware that nearly everyone went into the supermarket as well and would often nab people who were otherwise keeping a very low profile because everyone needs to get stuff to eat at some point.
