"That is a path you don't want to go down..."
Anybody else ever take this dare? I can't help but feel tempted whenever someone says this.

Well... I have no idea why I'm starting another thread. Boredom, I guess. My husband is still sleeping... the cat wants in or out depending on which 8 minutes of the hour it is. I feel sick and ...well, this is too depressing for me to even finish.

1. The Road not Taken
The Road not Taken

Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood

and sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveller, long I stood

and looked down one as far as I could

to where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

and having perhaps the better claim

because it was grassy and wanted wear;

though as for that, the passing there

had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

in leaves no feet had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --

I took the one less travelled by,

and that has made all the difference

3. somebody once pointed out
it makes a difference if those words are spoken by a prostitute or by an inventor. Or in my case, by a janitor or a college professor. :argh:

There's alot more poison ivy and brambles on the one less travelled.

6. Interesting idea
But I've never taken the point of that poem to be any kind of success at the end of the road but the road itself. The journey. And as someone who has taken the longest and most roundabout of roads, I can attest that the journey - through the brambles and poison ivy - has taught me more than I could have ever learned buzzing along a smooth paved corridor.

I guess a lot of it is in where your focus is. My focus has never been the destination. I'm grateful for the road.

9. the road
is the worst part. It would be more tolerable if one had the hope of a decent destination.

11. There is no destination
That's what life is - the road. The only destination is death - that's what's at the end of the journey. If you feel the road is the worst part, you have a long and grinding path before you.

I've always enjoyed the ride far more than the destination.

2. "Put 'em up. Put 'em up"
"Which one of ya first? I'll fight ya both together if ya want...."

Too depressing to finish? Praise the Lord anyway!

But I suspect that talking about religion is a path I don't wanna go down :hide:

4. My dear KC2...
I went down a path once, a long time ago....

I didn't know what I was doing, or where I was going...

It changed my life, and continues to change my life daily....

I have never regretted it...

7. "Don't go in that room"
Yeah, as soon as someone tells me not to do something, I want to try it. And I always do. And it's always been interesting and illuminating.

I'd rather learn on my own than have someone else teach me, I guess.

8. I'm an adult. It's nobody else's concern what path I go down.1
So, no, I don't give other people's opinions about my array of choices the weight they might want me to give it.

When I feel like you do, I get some sunshine, gf, and I refuse to give in to boredom. I see boredom as a poor lifestyle choice; I can't recall anyone every celebrating the hours they spent choosing boredom over an engaging (yes, sometimes risky) choice.

12. Well, gf...
1. There ain't no sunshine in N. Texas today. It's raining. Yes -- again.

2. I'm staying home from work - sick - with an ear infection. So, it wouldn't be such a hot idea to go frolicking around, outside, even if I felt like it.

3. I wish it was as simple as just a "poor lifestyle choice." ;-)

10. I just tell I like the path to the dark side so let's go down it and see who comes back :)
Or tell em: Hell yeah we are going down that path, best grab your camping gear cause we will be there for awhile.
