What do I get my dad for his b-day?
I'm going shopping after work today. His b-day is Saturday, but he'll be out of town w/my sister and mother (leaving Thursday!)...so I need to get something...but I honestly don't know what... and Father's day was just last week!

Also...what should I have for lunch?

1. today is my dad's b-day.
It is tough to shop for 2 presents to the same person in such a short span

Sushi for lunch.

3. Happy b-day for him!
Sushi for lunch would be a good idea... He is out of the office today for meetings, but hopefully sometime next week...

2. Get him a certificate for
a ride in a glider or one of those old WWII planes. It's a gift he'll never forget.

He's more into kendo, samurais, and sushi... But i got him a sushi kit for Father's Day... why'd he have to be born in June!? LOL

5. A nice bottle of sake.
Edited on Wed Jun-27-07 10:47 AM by Heidi
That's what The Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger gave Call Me Wesley (among other things) for his birthday. And if you can manage it, the little sake pot and cups would be a nice touch. :hi:

This set is similar to what we gave CMW:

14. CMW doesn't drink much, either,
but when he prepares sushi or another nice Japanese meal, sake is part of the ritual. I bet your dad would enjoy it, if only for the ritual, plus it would add value to his sake set. :hi:

15. True. I'd have to make sure he doesn't bring it into the office...
It'll never survive past lunch in this place! :toast:

7. Here's a link for the sailplane ride

Gotta warn you, though. It's very dangerous! (Only in that it's highly addictive)

10. veggie burger?
:P LOL ;)

I'm sure he'd love to go...the problem is trying to find time when he's not working/doing kendo/housework. Plus then there's the issue of my "mother", which I don't want to get into...

All these good ideas and I don't know what to do! I can't afford much, trying to save money for college in the fall...

13. veggie burgers = yummy!!!
a nice cheap alternative is to go to your local sushi restaurant, get an assortment of good stuff, obiviously do it when mother won't be home, and then treat him to a nice lunch at his home. maybe bring a bottle of something to drink.

:P LOL

I could bring him sushi, but I'd really like to treat him to lunch. The poor thing doesn't take lunch breaks often. Plus a good cup of coffee might be nice. :) :donut:
