Funny cockatoo story.
Saturday I was lit tabling in Keene and a guy came walking by with a huge cockatoo on his shoulder. He stopped to talk and the bird just remained on his shoulder. Then along came a young woman with a lab puppy and she stopped. The guy got down on his knees to play with the puppy and the pup kept jumping at him trying to get to the bird. The puppy started barking and yapping and...the bird barked and yapped right back! It was an amazing imitation! These two creatures carried on at eachother and the bird sounded like a carbon copy of the pup. Makes me laugh every time I think about it.

1. Cockatoos are delightful birds.
Smart, VERY gregarious, and just all-around goofballs. That must've been hilarious to watch.

3. It really was! The guy told me that those birds live 60-70 years.
Interesting place, Keene, last week a guy went by with a goat on a leash!

2. oh that would've been fun!
I adore cockatoos. I doubt I could ever own one - they just require too much attention - but I came close to getting one years ago when he "adopted" me in a pet store. God, it was hard to walk away from that bird - he just wanted to be my bestest buddy.
