19. Kansas City... sh**; I'm still only in Kansas City...

Every time I think I'm gonna wake up back in the Lounge. When I was home after my first donations drive, it was worse. I'd wake up and there'd be nothing. I hardly said a word to my guitar, until I said "yes" to a capo. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the Lounge. I'm here a week now... waiting for a mission... getting softer; every minute I stay in this Lounge, I get weaker, and every minute Gumpie squats in the desert, he gets stronger. Each time I looked around, the walls moved in a little tighter.

I was going to the worst place in the world and I didn't even know it yet. Weeks away and hundreds of miles up a freeway that snaked through the heartland like a main circuit cable - plugged straight into Gump. It was no accident that I got to be the caretaker of Forrest Gump's memory - any more than being back in the Lounge, posting pictures of my bootie, was an accident. There is no way to tell his story without telling my own. And if his story really is a confession, then so is mine.

How many people had I already had tombstoned? There was those six that I know about for sure. Close enough to blow their last breath in my face. But this time it was a Democrat and a major studmuffin. That wasn't supposed to make any difference to me, but it did. Sh**... charging a man with posting sex threads in this place was like handing out speeding tickets in the Indy 500. I took the mission. What the hell else was I gonna do?

If that's how (name deleted) posted, I began to wonder what they really had against Gump. It wasn't just insanity and backstabbing, there was enough of that to go around for everyone. Oh man, the sh** piled up so fast on DU you needed wings to stay above it.

20. Hey, man, you don't talk to the Gump. You listen to him.
The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet-warrior in the classic sense. I mean sometimes he'll... uh... well, you'll say "hello" to him, right? And he'll just walk right by you. He won't even notice you. And suddenly he'll grab you, and he'll throw you in a corner, and he'll say, "do you know that 'if' is the middle word in life? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you"... I mean I'm no, I can't... I'm a little man, I'm a little man, he's... he's a great man. I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across floors of silent seas...

Exactly what kind of 'puppies' were you trying to post, huh?

You never should have given that sheep cause to press charges against you, dude...now any display of cute and cuddly animals on your part is suspected. :P

I'm not a lawyer, nor have I played one on TV, but my divorce attorney once told me I SHOULD be an attorney. So, upon that recommendation, should the two of you need some legal counsel, please feel free to contact me.

37. I just took this thread over to the other thread
because you were paying more attention to the other thread.

I dunno if the '60s was my favorite musical era, but its music causeth me to wax nostalgic like no other, not even the '30s and '40s — maybe because the '60s was the decade of my innocence and wonderment.

Coupla years ago, I searched all over the intertubes before I finally found (with a lotta help from grasswire) a CD of B. Bumble and the Stingers — because my cousin was in a band around 1962 that covered a couple of their songs, and that was my introduction to rock 'n' roll. I cherish that CD as much as any I own.

38. But Oedi, I'm just trying to spread the love to as many threads as I can!

I think I love the 60's music because (other than the fact that there was some GREAT music that came out of that era), the music, the people I was round, and Barbie Dolls and Archie Comics was the closest to sanity that I had during that time.

I know; laugh away: Motown, Barbie, and Archie. What a combination, but I'm telling you, it saved me during those years.

39. I didn't feel 'saved' by music until the '70s
I don't think that happens until our angst-ridden teens.
