When four different friends called me weeping after the 04 elections, I told them were heading into a period of unbridled arrogance, similar to Nixon's second term, and things would begin to implode and unravel within a year. And I was right.

But, I also think that we can learn from past mistakes so when the situation arises again, we are better prepared to deal with it. Not so certain everyone has caught on to that.
