1. Report it to the Social Security Administration.
Then put an alert with the credit agencies to contact you if someone applies for credit.

2. First....
call the Social Security Administration and ask for their advice. Was it just the Social Security card?

3. Call the police and prosecute.
Note the date and time that it was taken, get that in the report so that you can use it with the credit reporting agencies later if need be.

Regardless, this crime should be prosecuted.

14. Also -- get copies of your credit reports and check for any strange
accounts or purchases. If you are the victim of identity theft, the credit reporting agencies will give you a free copy of your credit report.

Make sure to put a "flag" on your credit report that states that you must be contacted anytime anyone tries to open an account using your information. I had my identity stolen about 13 years ago and three or four different people have tried to use my information. The flag on my credit report has stopped them.

9. Probably not
but you want the police report to take to the credit agencies to prove up your potential future claims.

However, if they DO care, maybe some criminal gets fucked for their actions.

11. They won't care...
But documentation is a good thing to have.

I had something similar happen and they didn't give a shit. And I live in a small town where cops bust people for j-walking out of boredom.

8. Report It Immediately
to the SS administration

I dunno who else, but they can fuck you up with that info even without the card.

I'd also get another one.

:D

27. How was it stolen?
I mean, did someone just take your SS Card and birth certificate out of your purse so they could make a false ID and get credit in your name?

Or possibly you just lost them?
