Just for fun...
...this will take several minutes, but put your MP3 player (if you have one) on random and post the first 2 lines of the first 4 songs that are played.

Thanks!

Here's mine:

everybody's soaking wet, ready for the solar dip
it was so easy to fly
living this close to the bone
i can't get it home
i know you have a fucked up life
growing up in a stupid town
confusion in her eyes that says it all
she's lost control

I hope some people will do this. I love to see putting words together randomly!

1. Doesn't work so well if you have instrumental songs on your MP3 Player :)

3. I skipped over that one
we can assume my song would start off with a Bonzo drum solo

2. Ok, song #1 doesn't count since it's Bonzo's Montreaux by Led Zeppelin
It's a drum solo song

I seen ya, I seen ya, I seen ya 'round for a long long time
I really, I really, I really remember when you drank my wine
Say your name.
Try to speak as clearly as you can
It was twenty years ago today,
Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play
Someone lights a cigarette
While riding in a car

6. It's like the randomizer knew what I was trying to do
About 2 percent of what's on my MP3 player is instrumental, but 3 of the first 6 tracks when I tried this were instrumental. I also skipped ones where the singer mumbled too much

Ya know the other day
I was walking down the street
Say you work for Jimmy Brown
He ain't got nothing at all
Train coming round the bend
Taking me away from the country
Well I'm going away to live
Won't be back no more

It raises the whole question, where does meaning come from?

8. Here we go...
Just dropped in, I was driving past
You know I missed you since I saw you last
Does she walk? Does she talk?
Does she come complete?
Love is like a never-ending melody
Always have compared it to a symphony
Lights go down its dark
The jungle is your head - cant rule your heart

Hmmm....That is a head-scratcher.

if you wanna go let go
looking back at me I see
that I never really got it right

ha ha, that was fun, I'll have to do another one. :D

I am a dominante gene, live as I die
Never say forever 'cause forever's a lie
Here I stand
Helpless and left for dead
this fluid feels like pain
this stoic mood is all in vain
it used to be a motel
now they serve biscuits and t-shirts

12. this is fun, and I have time to kill til lunch
Dear mr. president
come take a walk with me
all my devotion betrayed
i am no longer afraid
I've lied to you
the same way that I always do
something takes a part of me
something lost and never seen

And let's do one more...

Under your spell again
I can't say no to you
I see nothing in your eyes
and the more I see the less I like
all that i'm living for
all that i'm dying for
when the dark wood fell before me
and all the paths were overgrown

I wonder if anyone can guess the songs by the lyrics...I can't so far. (except for mine, duh)

13. Maybe I didn't love you quite as often as I could have
Maybe I didn't treat you Quite as good as I should have

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen

Cheat the odds that made you Brave to try to gamble at times
Well I feel like dirty laundry Sending sickness on down the line

Lets dance in style, lets dance for a while
Heaven can wait were only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you going to drop the bomb or not?

*** Well that's kind of messed up. isn't it?

Nice girls, not one with a defect
Cellophane shrink-wrapped, so correct
Dont you feel like trying something new
Dont you feel like breaking out
You remind me of you
The way you shot right through and how
I pity the fool
Ooooh, I pity the fool

18. Here's my afterlunch selection
She's an Extraordinary girl
In an ordinary world
Say you were split, you were split in fragments
and none of the pieces would talk to you
Out streetwalking on a Saturday night
Looking for the man
I needed the shelter of someone's arms and there you were
I needed someone to understand my ups and downs and there you were

22. From my Greatest Hits file...
you watch the slow train moving through the city late at night
adjusting back and forth against the darkness and street lights
I’m scared of swimming in the sea
dark shapes moving under me
shakedown 1979
cool kids never have the time
I've got the understanding of a 4-year-old
I've got the piece of mind of a killer soul

Looks pretty random, alright.
For the fun part, figure out the songs!

23. Cool exercise!
Oh, your golden lights of America,
Joseph sought your prairies and your buffalo.
Sorry bout the things that I had to say
And I'll make it up to you right now at the penny arcade.
East of the mountains and west of the sea
My love lies weeping for me.
Fields are white in snowy spring
And I can't remember the last time that I seen her.

27. Random my ass
I swear I didn't cheat but this is what it came up with, must be possessed or have some very sophisticated software to fuck with my head

They made up their minds
And they started packing
A stranger lied on a barroom floor
And drank so much that he could drink no more
Well we all need someone we can lean on
And if you want to, well you can lean on me
I'm gonna send you back to Georgia
That's where you belong

I've been playing with all kinds of chance systems for writing lyrics and poetry since college. I'm always amazed.

29. Hi, my name is deepthought42, and I'm addicted to music!
Once I had a dream and this is it
Once there was a child's dream
I still hang on every word
In a world of faded memories
Ride on through the night
ride on
And if I was wrong
I know I don't deserve this

someone, make me stop! :silly:

I can't see your star
Though I patiently waited
Well here we go again get up
a little something for your ear hole get up
I'm a soldier
I'm a soldier
when I was a young boy
My father took me into the city

Stay low
soft, dark, and dreamless
from the top to the bottom
at the core I've forgotten
my conviction is stronger today it's a fight to uncover your sacred lie
and the fear isn't going away as the soldiers still die
Can you feel that?
Oh shit...

(ok, that one is my fav) :headbang:

We skipped the light fandango
And turned cartwheels cross the floor
Well you've heard about love givin' sight to the blind
My baby's lovin' cause the sun to shine
I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I'm lyin' here on the floor where you left me
I think I took too much

What an odd assortment.

bow down to the queen of noise

it's so relieving to know that you're leaving as soon as you get paid
it's so relaxing to hear you're asking wherever you get your way
love's got this drag on it
no way in Hell would I turn to you
i feel fine
want me to drive

Dead inside

Suppressed by all my childish fears
Here I stand
Helpless and left for dead

hmmm, that's a good one.
