I dare you all.
Go to your local grocer's and write down prices.

Go to your local Walmart Supercenter's grocery area and write down prices.

Compare.

For example, a 3LB packet of "store brand" frozen chicken boobie pieces are $6.98 at Cub, $8.96 at walmart (just reduced from $9.78, hot damn!)

1. you may want to record the prices mentally, if your memory allows
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 10:20 PM by pitohui
some walmart managers get bent out of shape if they see you writing down prices

who knows, they've never said anything to me, but they've stopped a friend

my scribble is always on what already looks like (is) my shopping list, though

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: tell the cashier at walmart about the sale at the other store they do match prices if you ask! my walmart sometimes posts the flyers from the other stores so i don't have to bring in my own

3. Price matching only works for name brands, not store brands...
And I ought to memorize more name brand products... something tells me SuperWally's grocery section is more hype...

I do know their instant sugarfree pudding mix is 19 cents cheaper, and the pizza crust mix is 2 cents cheaper...

And I recall busting my gut over another product, which was $4 MORE at superwally's than Cub...

Needless to say, when the day is said and done, I'll be avoiding Walmart's Supercenter for a while. The sundry items' prices are lower, but the main stuff costs so much more - as much as I know Cub overprices at times (so I go to Target, are you dizzy yet?), Target's in the same strip mall as Cub; Super walmart is the other side of the street and nobody knows how to drive in a civilized manner around here...

7. Stopped?
How?

I'd like to hear a legal justification for "Sorry, you can't write down the prices of our merchandise."

I also found out (on wiki) that somebody may be buying Sam's Club from Walmart Corp. ( :woohoo: )

6. I'll set foot approximately 1x per year
Out of sheer desperation (it's the closest store to us), and that annual visit only serves to remind me why I despise the place.

8. I can guarantee the prices are lower at Walmart than Albertsons.
No question.

Prices are comparable with WinCo (which is like Cub, but not as good).

I usually shop at Albertsons, sometimes at WinCo.

9. I can't see how they can stop you from writing down prices of products.
Besides, the slotting fees that Wally World rakes in from each manufacturer more than makes up for a lost customer or two.
