OK, need some packing advice.
As many of you know, I'll be spending the summer in London on an internship with a media organization.

Right now, I'm wondering what I should pack.

FYTI, dress code at this place I'm interning is casual. I was told dress shirt and blue jeans are SOP.

Here's my current list of what I need to get:

At least seven dress shirts

Five pairs of jeans

two pair of jean shorts

One umbrella

Extra AA batteries

Camera battery for my camera

Three small gifts (i.e. Wisconsin map, Wisconsin state flags, stuff with the UWSP, Milwaukee Brewers, or Green Bay Packers logo) (In case I am placed with roomates from cultures where gifts are expected)

Dual-Voltage travel Iron

Proper adaptor plug

Some sort of hideable wallet

Comfortable shoes

Shampoo

Body Wash

3 oz containers for carry-on

Extra razor blades

Shaving cream

What else should I bring?

1. those facial cleaning cloths that require no water, they're good for when you're
on the plane and feeling kind of scuzzy and they're just handy to have around. Oil of Olay makes them but there are other brands as well.

2. You know the small gifts you're going to get?
Try to get things made in Wisconsin or the US, instead of the standard "Made In China"!

Have a great time!

:)

3. You can buy things in London.. They have stores.
Why bother lugging the shit six thousand miles when you can stop off anywhere in London and buy what you need? I can understand clothes. But, shaving cream?

8. OK... You would rather drag three months worth of AA batteries across the ocean.
I would rather drop a few extra quid and buy them when I need them. Staying away from the pub for one night will save more. I'm assuming he will at some point have to carry all of his things. If he is shuttled around with all of this stuff.. Great. Bring the kitchen sink.

14. Are you sure you want to bring that many pairs of jeans? Jeans are very heavy and bulky.
Since you'll be there all summer, I can understand wanting to bring a pair or two (generally, I don't bring jeans at all when traveling overseas). But you may find yourself in a situation where you want to look a little more presentable. Some light-weight travel pants might be more suited to your needs. They take up less room, they wick moisture, they resist wrinkles, and they look a little nicer.

I know you can get these pants in larger sizes because my husband used to wear larger sizes and we've traveled overseas a lot. Check out REI or Travelsmith.

You may also want to check out ricksteves.com. There is a lot of advice about packing and traveling smart.

15. Some warmer clothing.
I was just discussing the London weather with a native
this evening, coincidentally enough. He explained that
the summers there aren't terribly hot, and any given day
might be very cool or even cold (and quite often damp).

I'd throw a jacket and a sweatshirt onto that list.

16. Why don't you mail some of the jeans and stuff to the place you'll be staying...
And mail it back at the end of the summer?

 Just wondering if this is viable. I would mail back cash to myself when in Las Vegas to keep from spending winnings...saved alot on stamps though.
