For your amusement: Recent garden project finished (Dial-up warning!)
We decided to turn a part of our garden into a stone garden. Before, there was a little overgrown pond with an adjacent jungle. Here's a shot of what it looked like before. The work started then, so that's explaining the mess (the tube on the right belongs to the koi pond coming from the UV-light):

That's how the garden angle looked after the plants were moved and transplanted elsewhere:

Then, on the dirt came sand, and someone left their footprints:

After the sand came the foil:

Then came the pebbles, one ton so far, not counting the boulders we moved:

Ginger wanted more pebbles, so add another ton:

And here's what it looks right now - still a bit empty, but there will be some greens in it, and I put up a long Tibetan Prayer flag yesterday:

The little pond will get some enhancements, too, besides the lotos flower. There will be a waterfall and mist machine for ponds:

All in all, we're pretty happy with the outcome.

1. It looks great!
Does it make that area look a lot bigger, or is it just the angle of the pic? :-)

3. It does make it look bigger
and way brighter. There's still some work to do along it, but we're really happy how it turned out. :hi:

5. Thank you!
The stone bench was my gardener's idea, since we had the right stones for it. Every day he worked on it, he had to sit down on it. Even just today, when he brought the bill. ;)

4. Bravo!
That reminds me of a Japanese garden in Lethbridge, Alberta.

What a wonderful transition,
and I'm glad for you that Bigfoot stopped by to help.

6. LOL! Bigfoot? I thought it was Robinson Crusoe!
Thank you, my friend.

There will be a marble Buddha statue in front of it and a few bamboo plants in it; perhaps a mimosa pudica behind the statue. And this for the pond:

I'm no Zen Buddhist, and I won't rake patterns in the pebbles. ;)

But yes, it is a tranquil spot (Ginger loves the stone bench), and with the prayer flag there's motion to contemplate.

33. Thanks for watching out for the little wayfarer
A neighbor did that for my cat, and therefore me, 25 years ago when I had just moved to a new place and my cat insisted on going outside even though it was raining all night. He spent three weeks a few houses away until an alert neighbor, who had put my "lost cat" flyer on her fridge, realized the cat on the flyer was the one who had been pilfering the cat food under the deck of her neighbor, so she called me.
I was so happy and relieved to get him back!
