Poll question: Best Cheap Beer, I ask you
What is the "best" of the cheaper beers. We will all agree that some microbrews along with fine Belgium and German beers are great, but many of us are forced by reality to resort to some of the cheaper beers on the market. I personally favor Pabst Blue Ribbon, but what is your take?

11. On tap, it was Schmidt's
There was a bar in Torrington, CT that poured a Tiger's head Ale at $0.15 for 10oz.

30. in my experience, Corona has never been cheap
I was surprised to see that on the poll list...most half racks of Corona are damn near 12 bucks(if not higher).

I can never find Ballantine beer anywhere these days, but that's good too.

ooh, and editing to add: Yuengling, especially in cans, is also not too shabby.

5. I'd put Bud at the bottom of any beer list. Yes, even below Milwaukee's Beast.
Of those you listed, I suppose Corona is the least objectionable. :)

7. Having grown up in New England
Pabst Blue ribbon, Carling Black Label, and Narragansett were always cheap buys. Narry was abour $1.25 a 6-pack back in the good old days.

Edited on Sun May-06-07 03:49 PM by Bryan
Distribution is spotty outside the West, but it's cheap (often available at 9.99 for a twelve-pack) and respectable in the flavor department, and its lightness makes it a fine hot-weather beer; if you like Heineken, it's a smart alternative.
