1. Replace the battery.
On your motherboard, there should be something that looks like a watch battery. That is going bad. Just replace it.

2. Perhaps... but mine has lost time since I first bought it...
It hasn't gotten worse and I just occasionally adjust it, but is probably more software driven than battery in this case....?

BTW, I have seen "software fixes" for this kind of problem, but it never was enough of a problem for me to look into...

14. replacing battery
Mine did the same thing and I replaced the battery a few times and it never did fix the problem. Oh well. My advice is to try replacing the battery one time and if it doesn't work, just live with it or get a new computer.

3. 'replace the battery'
is the most likely answer, but.
I just did the same about a month ago, with a correct battery with a 2008 date on the package.

started losing time again within days.

7. Double click the clock
In the lower right corner in the date and time box click the internet time tab. Check the set time automatic box. Adjust the when to set time box to when you are usually on line. Click apply. Never worry about the clock again.

9. Bad CMOS battery
I have a bad one in my computer but I haven't done anything about it. I just hung a watch with a broken wristband next to it so I always know the right time

15. I was having the same problem recently
I didn't change the battery though because my motherboard is not old. I downloaded and ran Spybot Search and Destroy and removed a bunch of crap that Ad Aware wasn't catching. So far, that has done the trick. I've heard this from someone else recently too, so I suspect spyware of some sort.

19. The clock on my work PC
is about 8 minutes fast, but I'm not allowed to change it ("You do not have the proper privilege level to change the system time.") so I do the only thing I can do: leave work 8 minutes early.
