OK, no couches on the porch, but what's with no basketball hoops on the garage?

Some subdivisions ban basketball hoops, but I could never figure out why.

16. Only if the kids are cannonballing off of a couch on the porch.
Plus, a backyard pool isn't low class, unless it's an above ground one. Really low class if it's inflatable too. :sarcasm:

A park I grew up near still refuses to put up basketball goals because "the gangs" (i.e., blacks) will start hanging out there.

That was a joke with a small nugget of truth embedded.

8. Do they ban hoops on garages
or just the portable backboards that kids always leave in the street? (Which I also never considered a big deal.)

although the portable ones are OK as long as they are put away when not in use. (at least where I live)

13. Probably better that way
Kids can go to the park or schoolyard to shoot hoops. And while they're there, they can buy drugs.

9. its supposedly "detracts from the homes exterior"
same reason why many in my area also ban satellite dishes that are visible from the front.

12. The noise...the sound of a pick-up game in a driveway is really irritating...
forcing neighbors to listen isn't too polite.

What's a few spiders and a mouse or two in my basement? I can put my couch wherever I want AND have a basketball hoop on my garage!!! I can even run around nekkid if I wanted to!!! but mosquitoes don't differentiate when they bite!!

17. I live in the country, and my son used to run around naked.
Of course, he was about 18 months at the time and skinny as a rail. Keeping diapers on that kid was tough.

Don't live in a subdivision that tells you what you can and can't do on your own property. I think they're fucking evil and have way too much power. Where else can your house be sold out from under you while paying your taxes? It's bullshit. I will NEVER live in a subdivision that has a home owners association like that. EVER. It's more fun to buy a tract of land and do whatever the fuck you want. Duckie

20. Almost everyone I know with kids who lives here has a hoop
either on the garage, or free standing. We have one and extended our driveway to form a basketball pad for my son and his friends. My poor neighbors.
