PANAMA CITY, Fla. Apr 23, 2007 (AP)— Blowing his nose and wiping away tears, the multimillionaire founder of the "Girls Gone Wild" video empire pleaded guilty to contempt of court Monday and was sentenced to 35 days in jail.

Joe Francis, who was sued by seven women who were minors when filmed, apologized to the judge for yelling at the plaintiffs during settlement talks.

"I am sorry for my behavior. It was wrong. I had heard about appeals and things and I was confused. I am sorry, I really am," said Francis, 34.

Francis drew the contempt charge during negotiations to settle the federal lawsuit brought after his production company filmed the women at Panama City Beach in 2003.

Attorneys for the women said Francis, who makes a reported $29 million a year taping topless women for his videos, lost his temper in negotiations and yelled obscenities at them.

Granted, there are assholes in every industry in the world, but apparently, Francis is in a class by his own.

20. This is very true.

My husband is ex-porn industry and I am an adult entertainer; he's now a dj in this industry. Everyone in our biz hates Joe with a passion---he makes it worse for all of us. Regardless of your opinion of these industries; there are people who are trying to adhere to standards--and he is the epitomy of the stereotype of coersion into porn and stripping that we are trying to live down.
He has also helped to create a group of very young women who have a wrong view of what this industry can do, and how to handle it; along with those rap videos that glorify and simplify the business.
I could go on for days,but it is very complicated. Suffice it to say that he is not very welcome in most clubs and porn industry circles--maybe his money was tolerated for awhile; but the damage he's done is not (I know that sounds funny coming from this corner-but it's true).
Actually, in the end maybe he will serve to create a backlash against the eroticization of underage females. I certainly hope so.

Yeah, the guy is scum. He is trash. But I can't believe people can make jokes about jail rape. It isn't funny, and its a serious problem.
