Anyone else have this problem? Especially on the right side. Always tense - I have to make a concious effort to try to relax that side, but it never works.

sigh

1. I wish the rightwingers would get lockjaw on both sides
Not surprising that it's your right side, sis.

2. I never thought about it in that way. Perhaps it is a Freudian thing
going on - especially since the year 2000?

6. Temporomandibular Joint and Muscle Disorders (TMJDs)
Jaw locks...have to work it out...blah..blah.. you may be grinding your teeth at night, you may have jaw joint issues....

Don't let it go for too long without your Dentist or a TMJ specialist looking at it...been there done that..

9. I did have to get a muscle relaxer years ago. I probably am going to have to
'pony-up' the $$ to have a nightguard made. It just seems as if the right jaw is always tensed up and I have to make a concious effort to relax it for a few seconds.

10. Yup....my jaws tighten up once or twice a month...I got braces and a mouth
guard and that helped a great deal.

11. As a TMJD sufferer myself...
Always try to consciously remember: "Lips together, teeth apart."

Try moist heat, advil (or something similar)and if you're still bothered by it after a few days......see a specialist. Don't let it turn into a vicious cycle that's difficult to break. It can be life-altering. (if left untreated)

Good luck.

15. biofeedback
emg biofeedback to help you learn to relax it then you can practice practice practice

tension, tense, ten, te,

you're under a lot of stress it seems to me, so it's pretty normal to be tense

but relaxing is as easy as tensing, it just isn't as natural
