Digital Camera help
Looking to buy a camera for my daughters 18th birthday. Would like to keep it around $200 and a point and shoot style. I was looking at this one but am open to suggestions

1. I suspect that
you'd get great advice in the photography group. There's quite a few knowledgeable people over there. Just a suggestion.

2. The Casio Z120, if you can still find it, is an AWESOME purchase...
I attempt to mod mine into an infrared unit... that's also when I found out lens design had been alterned to, uh, prevent that sort of modification from being made... (but I moved to D-SLR anyway...)

Sony's P&S digital cameras also offer very good quality.

5. Haven't read up on newer models, but Canon is another good P&S brand...

4. I have a Canon
I have one of the Power Shot series, I've been real happy with it.

6. I second this suggestion.
I have the higher-end G-series canon. But a couple of my friends have the powershot, and they LOVE them. They are very easy to use. And, honestly, the photos are just as good as my higher-end canon--you can only see the difference when you get up to 11x17 or poster-size prints. The powershot is going to be my next camera.

7. IMHO The Canon Powershot is the best bang for your buck at that
price point. Just my 2 cents.

8. The advice used to be to buy digital cameras from a branded camera company, ie Canon
The glass in the lenses of Canons, Nikons, etc used to be FAR superior to the optics in the cameras made by the computer and electronics companies.

Not sure if that is true anymore, but there is $0.02 (adjusted for inflation).
