Smoker Fitness
This cracked me up, so I have to share. :) My smokin' neighbor told me of his new fitness plan: every time he wants a ciggie, he gets on his machine and does 20 reps of something. THEN he has one!

He claims he's smoking a little less, and exercising more.

1. When I was at airborne school back in 1995
we would start every day at 4:00 in the morning with a 4 or 5 mile run in BDU pants. It always amazed me that some soldiers would preface the run with a few cigarettes, saying the resultant coughing actually clears their lungs and makes them run better. Scientists, soldiers are not.

(Yes they do have them) I remember the old Msgt's smoking and doing their 1.5 mile run at the same time.

Try doing 2 miles sometime! (Ha, ha, ha)

That 600 yard shuttle run you guys have is a pain in the ass.

2. You know....
...my uncle had a doctor who told him to do a similar thing way back when...either get a set of handweights and pump for five minutes, run around the block, do as many pushups as he could in two minutes. He did eventually quit and became a regular jogger.

3. I've always said...
that I would exercise more if the gyms had ashtrays on the treadmills and stationary bikes.

5. There actually is some merit to this.....
The deepest breath most smokers take is when they drag on a ciggie.... If they ever breathed that deep without a ciggie, the dark recesses of their lungs that only ever see cig. smoke can finally be touched by air.

6. I was in the best shape I have ever been in when I used to do this
Brew a pot of coffee and every half hour I did

30 pushups
30 situps
5-10 "Diamond" push-ups
20 crunches
3-5 chinups
3-5 pullups

Drink coffee smoke a cigarette. 5 setups over a two hour period. Sort of a Herschel Walker meets Henry Rollins work out.
