the mix of humor and horror is pretty rare, and they do it perfectly.

I mean, when they're beating the hell out of that zombie, synchronized to "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen...

38. I loved it
The DVD actually has subtitles (the "Zomb-o-meter," I think) that list trivia about the movie, like how the aspect ratio is the same as the original Dawn of the Dead, that when Shaun says, "...and Ash is a bit under the weather, as well" it's a hat tip to the Evil Dead movies, that Fulci's Restaurant is named after Zombie director Lucio Fulci, and the list goes on.

I can't wait to see "http://hotfuzz.com/us/index_us.html?gclid=CMDkqcrlq4sCFRssVAod3FjrVg">Hot Fuzz"--it's out next week!

Essentially the same themes as all the rest. The only real difference is that the people infected with the RAGE aren't technically dead.

I felt that familiar "Oh, shitfuck" when Fielder doubled after Hardy's homer.

Just noticed they gave Schmidt the win; scorer's discretion. He pitched well, though he threw 95 pitches in five innings.

And the Tomato's pickin' up where he left off as a pinch hitter. :woohoo:

29. Shaun of the Dead is a comedy, not a zombie movie...
Why do people treat that as a serious zombie movie. It was a clever comedy but a not great zombie movie. I don't like comedy and horror mixing at all personally.

Night of the Living Dead is still the best however many years later to me. The Dawn of the Dead remake was really good which I was surprised by.

Side note, I still laugh hysterically when watching the original Dawn of the Dead, at the guy who keeps trying to get his blood pressure taken in the mall kiosk blood pressure machine, while all this zombie chaos is going on around him. Until he finally gets killed trying to do so. What is the story behind that scene? It's just so odd and random.

... at the end. When they are holed up in the bar the movie makes a great and sudden shift from being a comedy to serious horror/suspense. The zombie action in the bar is on par with some of the other great zombie movies.

42. as much as I love the original NOTLD and Shaun of the Dead
I have to go with Dawn (the old one, of course - the new was good, but should have been more of an homage than a remake).

It has a great set up - the mall scenes are just brilliant and a great commentary on humanity - and a biker gang. What more can you ask for?

and as for 28 Days Later (which is not really a zombie movie), it is also more about the evil of humanity as well - many of the truly horrific things done, besides the rabid cannibalism, are done by people not infected.

And I even love video games where you get to kill zombies. I was disappointed with Resident Evil 4 because it didn't have REAL zombies. That being said, the Dawn of the Dead movies are my fav (the original was better, but the remake was pretty damn good...some fast zombies).

My friends like Vampires and werewolves. I think they are all fucking losers. Zombies are bar none the best, funniest, and scariest creatures of the night.
