I went to church this morning wearing only one boot. It was not an April Fool's joke.
Edited on Sun Apr-01-07 05:25 PM by Left Is Write
My husband stayed home to get some yard work done and get ready for the man who is coming to extend our patio tomorrow.

The kids and I went to church. I was asked to be a greeter and hand out palm fronds (it's Palm Sunday).

I put on my left boot, but the heels of these boots are pretty high, and I can't drive with high heels on. Usually, I toss the right boot into the passenger seat and put it on when I get where I'm going.

I forgot the right boot in my hurry to get out the door this morning. Buckle kids in? Check. Got purse? Keys? Check. Other boot? Oops. As I was entering the building, I ran into an older couple I'm friends with. I explained the situation and they laughed. The mister suggested I take the other boot off and just wear my stocking feet.

"No one will even notice," he said.

My pant legs are very long. That's why I was wearing high heels to begin with. I supposed that could disguise my sock feet. The kids and I stood at the door greeting and handing out palm fronds for 20 minutes. Later, during the service, we walked up to the altar for Communion. This whole time, I was in stocking feet.

I have no idea if anyone noticed.

It was as if someone were playing an AFD prank on me.

2. Well, it was more a case of my left FOOT not knowing what the right was doing.

3. Your minister is wise,
he may have saved you a trip to the chiropractor.
I used to work for a few chiropractors, and often a man would come in with lower back pain from sitting crooked while driving a long distance with a fat wallet in his back pocket.
The same thing can happen from standing crooked.
Maybe people thought you were forgoing footwear for Lent. ;)

5. It wasn't the minister.
When I said "mister", I just mean the male half of the couple I was talking to. :)

4. I know no one in our church would've noticed or cared.
We're a fairly laid-back bunch, though. Then again, you might have had a problem during the procession around the outside of our church.

I have soooo done stuff like that. What's it with getting kids out the door and forgetting everything else?

8. LOL! We should start a little club!
I had 2 pair of slides - both tan, both suede. You guessed it, I got to the office and noticed in the elevator that I had on one of each. I showed my friend Roxanne and we had a good laugh. Then an hour or so later, my Manager was staring at my feet. I started chuckling and she started laughing. "Well, I wasn't going to say anything," she said, "but since you're already grinning...."

It was a giggle sort of day and everyone had fun gently poking fun at me.

10. LOL! Well, I've done that too. One purple suede pump, one black suede pump.
One three-inch heeled boot and one stocking foot is a little more glaring, but the principle's the same. :)

9. Someone else is walking around with one shoe today
Less than a half a block down from my apartment, I saw a very nice dress shoe in the ground. Looks like someone may have been a bit drunk last night, got the heel stuck in the mud, and either didn't have the balance, or the wherewithall, to get it unstuck - and hopped inside.
