One day I will get around to watching all of those classic movies. I have never ever seen..
as classic as they may be:

Gone With the Wind
To Kill a Mockingbird

What movies haven't you seen? I saw Casablanca and was sort of disappointed. :hide:

1. Neither have I.
I'm what I tend to call "movie deprived." The two you meantion, Casablanca, Frankenstein, and a half million others.

2. Yeah, I watched Casablanca just for the reason that I felt
like I needed to say I watched it. I did learn a lot of phrases we say today came from the movie, but other than that  I guess you had to be alive at the time to understand! Same with Easy Rider. I watched it. Boring as hell, but I was told that it is about the time period and if you didn't live at that time, you wouldn't understand!

4. I wasn't around during WWII -
but I liked Casablanca, though. :)

I understand why you wanted to watch it. I watched "Deliverance" solely for cultural literacy.

6. I oughtta put that one on my list, too!
I totally know what you mean, though, about feeling like you *should* watch it, just for the cultural references.

8. After seeing Deliverance, it opened up a whole new world for me.
At least as far as the jokes go!! Watch it just for that!

11. Deliverance
Never saw it. Just the previews creeped me out. All those post Vietnam movies I have avoided - Full Metal Jacket, Born on the Fourth of July, Apocalypse Now, Platoon; never saw any of them. I don't have the stomach, or the heart for them. Pretty much the same for all the WWII movies - at least the more current crop of WWII movies. Made the mistake of seeing "The Pianist." Scarred me for life.

I did like "Guns of Navarone" and "Von Ryan's Express" which were made in the 60s. Good stories and the violence was not so graphic.

3. I watched GWTW
a few weeks ago. It was on in the afternoon on TCM and I had nothing better to do. It was really an awful movie. Perhaps, it's just very dated and therefore over stereotypical. The characters are not likable, none of them.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" is definitely worth seeing, though.

7. My aunt has told me to go out and rent To Kill a Mockingbird NOW!
I did that with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest! I did love that one!! Actually, I bought it! Which is what I will do with To Kill...

9. I have never seen "One Flew...." but I did read the book.
It was assigned reading in a freshman discourse class in college, and I didn't want to read it. I'm glad I did, though, because I loved it.

12. Two of my favorite movies.
I have them both, if you wanna come over and watch them. I'll pop some popcorn, we can wear our footie jammies, and have a nice night! :hi:

I've tried a few times but got bored with it.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a must see! If I could buy only one classic movie, that would be it.

17. I love To Kill a Mockingbird (I have it on DVD)
Gone with the Wind is about an hour too long, for my taste.

18. The length of the movie is why I haven't watched it yet! I can't stand too long
of a movie!

19. I know
There are some long movies that I have been able to sit through, but they are more in the action/fantasy genre, enough stuff happening to hold my interest.

GWTW has like an hour in the middle that induces sleep :boring:
