Pictures from the South Carolina Aquarium, mainly their Amazon exhibit. Not dial-up safe.

I was in Charleston, SC over spring break, and I visited the South Carolina Aquarium there. I've picked the best photos out of the 40 or so I took.

Edit: I'm going to cut this down to just the upland, jellyfish, and Amazon exhibits (with one of the grand tank). My photobucket account can be linked to for anyone wanting to see the rest.

They have an upland exhibit which displays various species native to both the land and freshwater there.

Copperhead:

Garter Snake and Eastern Diamondback Rattler:

Canebrake Rattler:

Red-Tailed Hawk:

This is the Grand Tank, which holds deep/open water fish. This particular panel measures 27 feet high by 15 wide, which gives you some idea of the size of the fish.

The jellyfish had two separate tanks for two separate species. Both species bioluminesce, and this also means they get lit up by camera flashes.

Cone Jellies:

Moon Jelly:

The Amazon exhibit (one of the occasional special exhibits you find at any aquarium) takes the cake, though.

One of their macaws (the other was blue):

A species of toucan (I think):

A friendly, curious, striped catfish:

Freshwater Stingray:

Vegetarian species of piranha:

The carnivorous piranha had their own tank:

Emerald Tree Boa:

The star of the show, a 12-15 foot anaconda on loan from the Columbia (SC) Zoo:

The way his tank was set up let me get some excellent zoom shots.

2. Nice copperhead
Cool copperhead!

I stopped it from downloading all the pics as there were too many. Some are pretty blurry. The copperhead came out great! Just 4 or 5 of the best shots would be good...and less impact on your bandwidth, too.

3. Very cool - I particularly like the shot of the Emerald Tree Boa
And, as the previous poster pointed out, Darth Vader is pretty nifty as well... :)
