I am so freakin happy right now.

I am a dog lover. Seriously madly in love with them. I grew up without any pets because of allergies but in my late 20s I started to notice that some dogs didn't make me sneeze. Then one night I was visiting a friend and I found myself alone with his two dogs for an evening. I was instantly smitten. Within a year I got a chihuahua (Pinky) from the pound and after another year I bought my Pug named Buddha.

About a year and half ago Pinky got lost and we had just a few horible hours before I connected with a woman who picked him up off of the road. Since then I have tried to save any dog that I find if I can. Doggie karma.

Last night I was about a mile from my house after a 45 mile commute home from work. I pass this strange beast running on the side of the road on the edge. It was like a two-headed golden giant bear but on closer examination it was two golden retrievers. They looked like they were late for an appointment. This is not the first time I've done this and as I was turning around I couldn't help but feel silly. I have a two seater convertible that I just had washed. My own 2 little dogs were very ready for me to come home. Yet, I had to turn around.

When I pulled up to them one of them was strolling out into the center of the road. I called to them like we were old friends and of course they came running. I once chased a Jack Russell for 30 minutes trying to get him in my car but he wouldn't have it. I only left him when someone who knew him showed up to continue the chase. But Golden Retrievers are everybody's friends so they came over and stayed once I started giving them the sub I bought for dinner. Somehow I got them inside and squeezed in myself. Did I mention they were covered in mud? Soon I was as well as all of the inside of my car, my purse, 1 1/5 sets of gloves(the other they threw on the road), and my laptop case in a matter of seconds. I drove to a Vets office down the street for water and info about shelters. Turns out they were all closed so I had to bring them home.

I proceeded to call and leave messages anywhere animal related. I bathed them while my hubby went and got them leashes and collars. Then we spent the night trying to find peace between 2 big dogs and little dogs. They all slept like angels.

This morning I was set to drop them off at the pound when a rescue service that I contacted called and said someone could take them to a no-kill shelter, even someone's house for a while so I thought that was better than the pound. I ended up taking the day off for them waiting for someone to get them when their owner(mommy) called me. She must have got my number from the pound and she'll be here in a hour to get them. She looked for them until 11:30 last night poor thing. Their names are Toby (7 mos) and Daisy (3 years). We thought that she was younger in fact. It was so nice to call them by their real names.

So that's why I am so freakin happy because the doggies are going home.

And this is a public service announcement to always put tags on your animals.
