Nine Inch Nails or Skinny Puppy?
Arguably the last big-name holdouts of the once-booming industrial music subculture, although one could make a strong argument for Front 242 as well. But what say you?

1. NIN!
Not that I do not like Skinny Puppy, but I liked Nine Inch Nails better.

3. I've gotta hand it to Johnny Cash, though...
The man made Hurt his own. I can't think of many other musicians who could do that.

4. My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult or (to compete) Stabbing Westward.
NIN is very cool, as is Front 242. Skinny Puppy? Meh...

Hell, industrial? I'll take A Homeboy, a Hippie and a Funky Dredd together with old Ministry over Skinny Puppy. Einsterzend Neubauten (sp?) makes them all look like idiots.

6. Einsturzende Neubauten earned the Henry Rollins seal of approval
He's got their hieroglyph tattooed on his body for time immemorial.

I do love how they tried to sell Jordache on their own little jingle. It would have been cool if they picked it up.

8. Nobody is endorsing anything for sale in this country
by using music in another language. That is, unless, KMFDM sneaks yet another one past 'em.

10. When did KMFDM pull this off?
I do remember it faintly, but the details escape me.

I also remember Naked City being used in some older Sega commercials, too. Or at least it sure sounded like Yamantaka Eye screaming into the microphone - kinda hard to mistake him for anyone else, especially when he's pissed off.

7. My personal vote goes to Skinny Puppy
Cult was a very personal song for me, back when I was at the lowest point of my life.

11. Easily Skinny Puppy
NIN hasn't down anything I really like since Broken, while Skinny Puppy's last two CDs are very strong releases. The music is far more creative and original.

NIN dropped a real turd on the music scene with My Teeth.Hopefully their new CD (which comes out in April I believe) will salvage some of my former liking for the band.

I do like that they both go after Bush a lot though, and NIN is still better than 90% of the other stuff on the radio.

Frontline Assembly is still going strong too, though I prefer the earlier stuff. But their last two have been decent. As for Front 242 I still listen to Tyranny For You on a regular basis.Good shit!

14. NIN should be called "Trent Reznor and some unimportant people".
Seriously, how many people have filtered through that group? I've always wondered if he and Sascha from KMFDM had a bet going to see who could rotate more people through their band before folding.

As to your original question, I was always more of a Skinny Puppy disciple and yet somehow ended up owning more NiN CD's than Skinny Puppy CD's, even though Skinny Puppy has released something like ten times more albums.
