What do you guys think of the name Lewis?
Should it be spelled Louis?

Thoughts?

Is the spelling Lewis preferable for a surname, or a first name?

1. I just realized I think the diminutive "Lew" is cooler than "Lou"

Maybe now I understand the great (:P) "Katherine" "Kathryn" "Catherine" debate.

Don't want to give out too much personal information about yourself. It may lead some to come to the wrong conclusion.

You've provided them with a fine life, even though you had them when you were in grade school.

6. spell it any way you like
i would think the spelling depends on who you wish to honor, if it's a first name but you are honoring that lewis and clark guy, spell it "lewis," it's a good enough first name for lewis's woodpecker, isn't it?

there is a perfectly solid tradition of supposed last names being given as first names to honor someone, i don't see the issue either way

plus wasn't joe louis spelled "louis" and that's a last name just as much

names are fluid, do what works for you and yours

19. I wonder if both names have the same root ...
tracing back to the tribe of Levi.

You could use it for both surname and first name, like the classic song, "Louie Louie"

21. I like it spelled Luis
the best...but then again that's usually because when it's spelled like that, the person is usually a hot latino!

Ok, sorry, I am sterotyping..

Of Lewis or Louis...I like Louis better.

Lewis could be both first or last.

27. Always fun to got the jerkoffs worked up, isn't it? They'll seize on ANYTHING, and make ALL kinds
of threats about how they're going to "punish" individual DUers, but in the end, it all works out to be "much sound and fury, signifying nothing." Emphasis on the nothing.

Have you ever seen a more jealous group of people in your life? I'll bet you haven't.

28. The best part is when they
wrote about how none of us have jobs, but apparently "I" do because I'm a big wig at a hospital consortium.

I'm SO glad someone PM'd me that stuff this morning. I NEVER go there. What a friggin' cesspool of moranness.

29. I've been describing it as a cesspool for a long time. As someone who grew up in
a little country town where people actually HAD cesspools (as we did), I know exactly what the word means.

Funny how the jealousy about the "six figures" dominates their discussion...wotta buncha losers, right there.

31. There's a "Lou" and a "Lewis" in my life.
Edited on Mon Mar-05-07 06:15 PM by bertha katzenengel
The "Lou" is my boss (Louis) and the "Lewis" is Lewis Black. Okay, he's not in my life but he sure enriches it.

Anyway, I like "Lewis" better. And "Lew." AND, "Lew" rhymes with and looks similar to "askew" and the way he says "askew" in one of his jokes just cracks Mrs. V. up like crazy.
