I stopped drinking soft drinks one year ago today.
Don't miss them.

Really wasn't hard, should have done it sooner.

1. what did you substitute?
I tried to give up my pop, and did so for about 2 months.
After that, i couldn't stand it anymore...

What beverages did you replace/increase when you gave up the sugar/caffeine water?

3. I bought a ice tea maker, and made own ice tea.
I drink only two glasses a day, very unsweet.

Some days I don't drink any tea.

I like to drink water.

Try to find something to replace soft drinks, water doesn't always work.

12. iced tea i could do...
but having been raised in NC, i make it really sweet, and methinks that would defeat the purpose.

13. I grew up on sweet ice tea, that is why I have so many crowns on my teeth.
I just put less and less sugar in the tea, now I only use a small amount.

My ice tea maker is great, it makes the tea so good that it doesn't really need sugar.

If I go out I have to order unsweeted tea, I can't drink the sweeten kind any more.

2. I'm trying to. The caffeine withdrawal makes it hard since I don't drink coffee.

I think I'll have to cut down at first and then eventually stop all together.

5. I don't drink coffee.
The caffeine withdrawal is hard.

That is why I switched to ice tea.

I now drink ice tea with no caffeine.

I don't miss the sugar or the caffeine.

8. Cutting down is good.
I did that for two weeks and then went cold turkey.

4. Good for you.
I'd much rather have water. I rarely drink soft drinks.

7. I've dumped them out of my diet, too. However, I might have them again
when I'm in Hawaii.

But lemonade would be good, too.

10. I cut them out for a while...
but it was having something carbonated that I miss.

Soda water and tonic water does it for me...just wish it was more economical.

Tonic water might help people with leg cramps, BTW...s'got quinine in it.

18. They're heavy in sugar (regular drinks) and caffeine (dark drinks).
Unless you choose caffeine-free diet drinks. But, then, what's the point?

The carbonation just gives me GAS!

14. Good for you!

I hardly ever drink them, personally. I'm not that big on carbonated drinks, except for sparkling mineral waters...which are sometimes lightly flavored with fruit taste. That's basically it.

:hi:

15. You have got to be kidding?
Everyone has known for decades that sugar and corn syrup are poison.

right?

16. I made it 3 weeks a while back
But I fell off the horse hardcore.

I fear I'll never win this battle. Giving up booze was FAR easier.

19. Excellent! I gave them up a long time ago too.
I feel better and spend a lot less money on groceries because of it. :D I just substituted water for the soft drinks, and I haven't looked back. :bounce:

Congrats on the year milestone! :woohoo:
