1. Chicken (especially the white meat) has almost no taste
Thus any meat that's flavorless tastes like chicken

5. reptiles became birds
whaddya think, birds up and flew into the sea and learned how to swim?

I really don't know the technical chain of events, but I think it was fish>reptiles>birds.

9. I think it must be based on what the animals eat.

Hence, the pork from my neighbor's pigs which are fed apples and leftover donuts from the Dunkin Donut shop are way tastier than store bought pork from a pig raised on a scientific diet on a factory farm. It's the same for my chickens that roam around eating grass, bugs, tomatoes flowers, the odd mouse, leftovers etc vs the typical store bought chicken.

On edit - I haven't eaten one of my chickens in years because they're more fun to have wandering around clucking. They do lay tastier eggs.

13. I think that's the biggest factor
I've had frog legs from a big bull frog caught in a pond and frog legs served in a chain restaurant. The ones in the restaurant definately were more bland and probably came from some sort of frog farm where they ate grain etc...much like farm raised chickens.

12. i think it's because they're all prepared like chicken
most of those things are breaded and deep fried, so there really isn't much of the orginal flavor, just a bland fried quality that tastes like chicken.

14. Survival training. Maybe Army Rangers or Green Berets.
I know all the Mercury astronauts were trained to live off the land wherever they came down, from desert to Arctic to jungle. This included learning to recognize snakes and lizards as food, always leavened by the assurance that whatever critter they were about to eat tasted "just like chicken". It's probably older than that, by a long shot.

17. Actually, chicken tastes like those other things.
In reality, people should be eating chicken and saying, "Hmmm, that tastes like frog legs." People always get it backwards. ;)
