Stuff before I was born etc. I would never be able to see some of this stuff on television, or even if it was, gosh, who knows where and when it would be on, you know?

But here is a classic, from 1973, one of my favorites. (year before I was born)

"Can't You See" by The Marshall Tucker Band. Incidently, they ended up campaigning for Jimmy Carter in 1976, and he has made a statement on a website advocating their induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Interesting stuff.

3. we had great variety shows in the sixties.
They are gone now.

We had shows specifically for rock n roll. We had "Hullabaloo" in color on NBC and "Shindig" in lively B&W on ABC, and the Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday night on CBS.
Rock acts played on The Smothers Brothers Show and various other ones I can't remember. Check out the explosion that Keith Moon created in a Smothers Brothers Show performance!!! I mean a real explosion. Pete said he was deaf for a few days.

When the Beatles played on Ed Sullivan in Feb. of 1964, it was like an overnight cultural revolution. To me that was the beginning of real rock and roll, although I know it came out of blues and country and etc.
