Whatcha do on your SNOW DAY????!!!!
I never got out of my fleece jammies.
Ate all the cinnamon red hot hearts (well, they were in the candy dish!)
Drank a pot of coffee (4 cups instead of my usual 1)
Made chocolate cup cakes (Weight Watches recipe, but reallllllly good)
Broiled a rare steak for lunch and covered it with carmelized onions.
Popcorn, movie marathon...
Sewed a dress...
Listened to music and danced around the house (but not naked... for goodness sake, it's 10 degrees outside)

Basically, I'm.... Having... A... Bitchin' ... SNOW DAY!!!

Sooooo, what did you do????

1. Sounds like you had a GREAT snow day...
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 05:03 PM by malta blue
I, unfortunately, spent most of my morning arguing with a 7 year old- and just came inside from blowing the 18 inches so far...

Mr. MB is sick in bed...

I am opening a bottle of wine and getting dinner going...is it time for bed yet?

Tried to get an inch and a half of ice off my car only to discover that both of my ice scrapers were in my trunk which was frozen solid...oops
hung out on DU some more

6. You guys all had fun. As for Little Miz Sunshine...boo hiss.... no fun!
And if I could find anyone who would drive out in this blizzard and deliver pizza, that would be my choice for dinner.

Wine!
A great idea!
I'm ready for wine!
It's 5:00pm... right?

Wine... snow... and I think shoveling is over-rated.
So far here, no ice.
Ice is my nemesis.
I'm still "up" for my Snow Day.

Merlot. Merlot goes with Snow, huh?

Hmmm... I'm lovin' it.

7. Most excellent day here in Maine
Got up at 3 AM, watched American Beauty and then the 5 AM local news to catch the school closings. Went back to bed until 8:30 and then made a cheese omelet and watched Ellen. Did some work, cooked omelets for husband and son and then watched two ERS and a Project Runway Marathon. Only time I went out today was to clear snow from the feeder for the poor birdies. Oh, and to get my floral bouquet from the delivering florist. Likewise, I haven't gotten out of my PJ's or even washed up. Making a pork roast for dinner and having a glass of wine. Truthfully, one of the best Valentine's Day ever!

16. Actually this is the first snow day in many, many years
that I have only had one kid at home. Sister is off to college, and her brother is a senior in HS. I remember the dread that used to accompany these days, the kids getting all wound up because they had the day off, taking an hour to get them outfitted to go outside, only to have them come in two minutes later, the wet snow suits, the attempts at board games, the crying, the fighting. Trying to make the day special only to give in and let them watch TV all day, even when we only had two network television stations and neither one was PBS. Their questions of why don't Josh and Reba get along? (The Guiding Light, which I never watched) Meals, snacks, meals, snacks, dishes, dishes dishes! All while I was trying to work and meet editorial deadlines. I earned my day today!

8. Worked from home
I can use a VPN to log in remotely to my desktop at work.

But it sucks because at work I have two monitors and here I have only one.

Plus all the conversations had to go through the VPN (no live one-on-one, no social interaction)

Plus the ones who made it in to work got fed thai food for lunch on the company's tab.

Then I had to go out and shovel snow.

Please, somebody call a WHAAAAAAAMBULANCE before I WHINE again!

:(

9. GOT PAID!
I'm a contractor, not an employee, so for me it's "no show, no dough." I took my mother to the doctor's yesterday, which meant I was looking at losing TWO days' pay this week, followed by losing another day's pay next week due to President's Day.

My office announced a 10AM "delayed opening," but I got up at my usual time, looked out the window, and didn't see much snow, ice, or precip. I decided to get there early and leave early. My plan worked perfectly when the sun broke through after 3PM!

12. Great picture! (if I was OUTSIDE, which I am NOT stupid enuf to do)...
However, for some reason...
my husband came home from work (ha ha... they didn't close the Ski Resort)..
and got all excited about shoveling... drama king.
Anyway... he looks like Frosty the Snowman at the moment.

I'll show him that picture.
He'll agree.

And me? I'll sip some more wine.

13. I didn't do much, that's for sure
I wrote a proposal for an art class they want me to do at a fitness center(believe it or not)and emailed it to the director. She says that art is fitness for the soul -- so if enough people sign up I will have a new gig on Saturday mornings.

I fed the birds -- we have lots of feeders so this was quite a job -- my little fingers were cold in spite of wearing gloves.

I hung out on DU, while listening to Congress debate the surge on C-span.

I made a delicious lunch -- leafy lettuce blend with cranberry vinaigrette dressing and a handful of walnuts, peaches, pears and low fat cottage cheese.

I did a couple loads of laundry and tidied up the kitchen.

I feel like a slug!!!!

17. Wow! You did a lot! I forgot... I did a load of laundry, too.
Oops... the towels are languishing in the dryer. Dry. And thank goodness, towels don't wrinkle.

Thanks for reminding me.

Must be that wine, huh?

18. No, not really
My sitting around doing nothing time far out weighed my doing anything constructive time.

I would love some wine now...but then I would fall asleep, and I want to stay up to watch "Lost". I think I'll put on a fresh pot of coffee. :hi:

14. I haven't had a snow day this year.
This academic year, I mean. My brother hasn't had to go to school for the better part of the last week and a half, both of my parents have gotten off of work several times because of the weather, but all I've been getting here at school is cold, nasty, depressing rain (not cold enough to freeze, of course). x( It's kind of a bummer.

Sure wish I could afford to take a day off...on the other hand, I can sneeze on door handles of vehicles with those "STILL the president" stickers. So, not a total loss.

23. Didn't get a lot of snow in St Louis
I think we got maybe four inches....it would take way more than that for my workplace to close, oh trust me on that one.

We didn't even get to leave early on Tuesday.

24. Well this was my second snow day in a row, so the excitement is wearing off a little!

Yesterday, I baked chocolate chip cookies! Then I exercised, read, and took a 2-hour nap. :) It was lovely! (Until the power went out...., then it wasn't fun anymore.)

Today, I threw out old catalogs and piled-up newspapers. Then I watched the re-run of the Westminster dog show because I missed it last night when the power was out. I think the storm has passed ... so now I'm starting to look forward to going back to school! I'm getting kind of bored around the house.

:boring:

like I do every day. The snowblower blowing chunks of ice into my face while I was scraping my windshield was the worst part.
