3. "Spider and the Fly" - London After Midnight
It's the first song that Oktoberain and i ever danced to...

Empty hearts I can hear them talking
I close my eyes and I keep on stalking
my love

no one's aware of the hunger I feel
it's something you or time cannot heal
I need someone to help me rise above

Eternal bliss is something I can show you
spread your arms and let my wings enfold you, my love
In the darkness shades of crimson rapture
the world is ours alone to capture, my love

Come over here and let me tell you something
nothing ever comes of nothing
we pay a price for all our choices made
Come along now and take my hand
I'll lead you to a promised land
the morning after may never be the same,
it may never come again...

5. Oh, that's a great song!
I took a seminar on singer-songwriters my freshman year of college, and one of our "assignments" was to listen to Court and Spark. Wonderful album, and "Help Me" is probably one of my favorite songs on there...although it's really hard to choose. Joni Mitchell is amazing! :)

13. Heart Cooks Brain by Modest Mouse
Edited on Sat Feb-10-07 02:27 AM by XemaSab
There are no videos of it on YouTube, sadly.

While looking for it I found this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7nDwtAVA8Y

Good times.

Here's some good old fashioned Heart Cooks Brain lyrics:

Slow walk
Its land mine
Its coal mine
Its a bad thought
On the way to God dont know
My brains the burger and my hearts the coal
Im trying to get my head clear
I push things out through my mouth I get refilled through my ears
Im on my way to God dont know or even care
My brains the weak heart, and my hearts the long stairs
Inland from vancouver shore
The ravens and the seagulls push each other inward and outward
Inward and outward
In this place that I call home
My brains the cliff, and my hearts the bitter buffalo
My hearts the bitter buffalo
We tore one down, and erected another there
The match of the century: absence versus thin air
On the way to God dont know
My brains the burger and my hearts the coal
On this life that we call home
The years go fast and the days go so slow

David Gray - The One I Love Lyrics
Gonna close my eyes
Girl and watch you go
Running through this life darling
Like a field of snow
As the tracer glides
In its graceful arc
Send a little prayer out to ya
'cross the falling dark

Tell the repo man
And the stars above
You're the one I love

Perfect summers night
Not a wind that breathes
Just the bullets whispering gentle
'mongst the new green leaves
There's things I might have said
Only wish I could
Now I'm leaking life faster
Then I'm leaking blood

Tell the repo man
And the stars above
You're the one I love
You're the one I love
The one I love

Don't see Elysium
Don't see no fiery hell
Just the lights up bright baby
In the bay hotel
Next wave coming in
Like an ocean roar
Won't you take my hand darling
On that old dancefloor

We can twist and shout
Do the turtle dove
And you're the one I love
You're the one I love
The one I love
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
can't find a video for this one (wish someone would post one)

bob seger - you'll accompany me

A gypsy wind is blowing warm tonight
The sky is starlit and the time is right
And still you're tellin' me you have to go
Before you leave there's something you should know
Yeah something you should know babe

I've seen you smiling in the summer sun
I've seen your long hair flying when you run
I've rnade my mind up that it's meant to be
Someday lady you'll accomp'ny me

Someday lady you'll accomp'ny me
Out where the rivers meet the sounding sea
You're high above me now, you're wild and free ah but
Someday lady you'll accomp'ny me
Someday lady you'll accomp'ny me

Some people say that love's a losin' game
You start with fire but you lose the flame
The ashes smolder but the warmth's soon gone
You end up cold and lonely on your own

I'll take my chances babe i'ii risk it all
I'll win your love or i'ii take the fall
I've made my mind up girl it's meant to be
Someday lady you'll accomp'ny me
Someday lady you'll accomp'ny me

It's written down some where, it's got to be
You're high above me flyin' wild and free
Oh but someday lady you'll accomp'ny me
Someday lady you'll accomp'ny me

Someday lady you'll accomp'ny me
Out where the rivers meet the sounding sea
I feel it in my soul, it's meant to be
Oh someday lady you'll accomp'ny me
Somedaylady you'll accomp'ny me

and my absolute fav. boss dj

Sublime Lyrics

Boss D.J. Lyrics

There's a steel train comin' through,
I would take it if I could. And I would not lie to you
because Sunday morning soon will come
when things would be much easier to say
upon the microphone like a boss DJ
when I would work upon the sea like it was dry land.
The boss DJ ain't nothin' but a man.

No trouble no fuss, .. I know why.
It's so nice, I wanna hear the same song twice.
It's so nice, I wanna hear the same song twice.

Rumors flyin' all over town, but it's just stones and sticks.
'Cause on the microphone is where I go to get my fix.
Just let the lovin' take ahold, 'cause it will if you let it.
I'm funky, not a junky, but I know where to get it.

Oo-we girl, oo-we girl
There really ain't no time to waste, really ain't no time to hate.
Ain't got no time to waste, time to hate.
Really ain't time to make the time go away.
So mister DJ, don't stop the music, I wanna know,
Are you feelin' the same way too?
I wanna rock with you girl, oo-girl.
Don't stop.

[Chorus

Right now,
"Keep the Faith" by Bon Jovi.

Once I get done listening to the new Freemasons album, I might change my mind...

Mother mother tell your children
That their time has just begun
I have suffered for my anger
There are wars that cant be won

Father father please believe me
I am laying down my guns
I am broken like an arrow
Forgive me
Forgive your wayward son

Everybody needs somebody to love
(mother, mother)
Everybody needs somebody to hate
(please believe me)
Everybodys bitching
cause they cant get enough
And its hard to hold on
When theres no one to lean on

Faith: you know youre gonna live thru the rain
Lord you got to keep the faith
Faith: dont let your love turn to hate
Right now we got to
Keep the faith
Keep the faith
Keep the faith
Lord we got to keep the faith

Tell me baby when I hurt you
Do you keep it all inside
Do you tell me als forgiven
And just hide behind your pride

Everybody needs somebody to love
(mother, father)
Everybody needs somebody to hate
(please dont leave me)
Everybodys bleeding
cause the times are tough
Well its hard to be strong
When theres no one to dream on

Faith: you know youre gonna live thru the rain
Lord you got to keep the faith
Now you know is not too late
Oh you got to keep the faith
Faith: dont let your love turn to hate
Right now we got to
Keep the faith
Keep the faith
Keep the faith
Lord we got to keep the faith

Walking in the footsteps
Of societys lies
I dont like what I see no more
Sometimes I wish that I was blind
Sometimes I wait forever

To stand out in the rain
So no one sees me cryin
Trying to wash away the pain
Mother father

Theres things Ive done I cant erase
Every night we fall from grace

Its hard with the world in yours face
Trying to hold on, trying to hold on

Faith: you know youre gonna live thru the rain
Lord you got to keep the faith
Faith: dont let your love turn to hate
Right now we got to keep the faith
Faith: now its not too late
Try to hold on, trying to hold on
Keep the faith

52. Frank Zappa - Dumb All Over
Whoever we are
Wherever we're from
We shoulda noticed by now
Our behavior is dumb
And if our chances
Expect to improve
It's gonna take a lot more
Than tryin' to remove
The other race
Or the other whatever
From the face
Of the planet altogether

They call it THE EARTH
Which is a dumb kinda name
But they named it right
'Cause we behave the same . . .
We are dumb all over
Dumb all over,
Yes we are
Dumb all over,
Near 'n far
Dumb all over,
Black 'n white
People, we is not wrapped tight

Nurds on the left
Nurds on the right
Religious fanatics
On the air every night
Sayin' the Bible
Tells the story
'N makes the details
Sound real gory
'Bout what to do
If the geeks over there
Don't believe in the book
You got over here

You can't run a race
Without no feet
'N pretty soon
There won't be no street
For dummies to jog on
Or doggies to dog on
Religious fanatics
Can make it be all gone
(It won't blow up
'N disappear
It'll just look ugly
For a thousand years . . . )

You can't run a country
By a book of religion
Not by a heap
Or a lump or a smidgeon
Of foolish rules
Of ancient date
Designed to make
You all feel great
While you fold, spindle
And mutilate
Those unbelievers
From a neighboring state

TO ARMS! TO ARMS!
Hooray! That's great
Two legs ain't bad
Unless there's a crate
They ship the parts
To mama in
For souvenirs: two ears (Get Down!)
Not his, not hers (but what the hey?)
The Good Book says:
"It gotta be that way!"
But their book says:
"REVENGE THE CRUSADES . . .
With whips 'n chains
'N hand grenades . . . "
TWO ARMS? TWO ARMS?
Have another and another
Our God says:
"There ain't no other!"
Our God says
"It's all okay!"
Our God says
"This is the way!"

It says in the book:
"Burn 'n destroy . . .
Repent, 'n redeem
'N revenge, 'n deploy
'N rumble thee forth
To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side
'Cause they don't go for what's in the book
'N that makes 'em BAD
So verily we must choppeth them up
And stompeth them down
Or rent a nice French bomb
To poof them out of existance
While leaving their real estate just where we need it
To use again
For temples in which to praise
OUR GOD
("Cause he can really GO HAWAIIAN!")

And when his humble TV servant
With a brown suit,
Glasses,
Maybe a blonde wife who takes phone calls
Tells us it's okay to do this stuff
Then we gotta do it,
'Cause if we don't do it,
We ain't gwine up to hebbin!
Ain't that right?
It's right.
I mean, seriously,
This television evangelist stuff is
DANGEROUS BUSINESS.
Don't let 'em get ya.
Anyway, listen.
We can't really be dumb
If we're just following God's Orders
After all He wrote this book here
An' in the book it says:
"He made us all to be just like Him," so . . .
If we're dumb . . .
Then God is dumb . . .
(An' maybe even a little ugly on the side)

DUMB ALL OVER
A LITTLE UGLY ON THE SIDE
DUMB ALL OVER
A LITTLE UGLY ON THE SIDE

54. "Walking on the Spot"- Crowded House
That would be my default answer, although I have a bunch of favorites (including the Smiths songs I mentioned above).

58. The Old Ways by Loreena McKennitt
My favorite songs mix actually has over 200 songs in it, and I only included songs that I really love. But this song is so beautiful and haunting, I could listen to it forever.

Soul to Squeeze, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

I went to a Peppers concert last month and they played it. Sigh, happiness.

62. Well, this week it is "Rock Me" by Steppenwolf.
It changes all the time, though. Some other past favorites have been "Can You Hear Me Knocking" by the Stones, "Tuesday Afternoon" by the Moody Blues, and "One" by U2.

63. The Band "The Weight"
At this moment. And the Last Waltz version with the Staple Singers in particular.

Although there's something wrong with you if you're not moved by this tribute from the concert for George. Especially now that Billy Preston is gone too...
