OMG - my boss's boss was canned on friday
I just heard it in a round about way. I have to compile and e-mail him a shipping report every morning for product shipped the previous day. (our place is located in PA, the big boss is in St. Louis)

so I ran the report, e-mailed it and it came back as being undeliverable...

I mentioned this to a co-worker and he tells me the big boss in St. Louis was fired on Friday... supposedly our place is ok, "there are no plans to close it on anyone's desk"

maybe we'll finally see some changes for the better, this place has been in ICU with doctors looking for a DNR order for the past 6 years.

don't have much info on the "new boss", will just have to keep my ear to the ground

2. well, I've heard 2 different "interpretations" of what it means
for our little company....

the production manager is all happy happy smile smile because he has been told "there are no plans to close the place"

my boss, the operations manager said he's 80% sure he'll be "let go" by easter and 99% sure it will be before the end of the year. the St. Louis mucky-mucks have been wanting to close the place down and move production down there, but the now-fired-boss had been stopping them. My boss thinks it will be 2 years before they close us up here because they need to set up for doing the production down there

interesting dynamic going on too -- the new big-wig (even got a new title - he's a VP now) was in charge of manufacturing in St. Louis, about 56 years ago they did try to move our production down to St. Louis with us as a back-up production facility, it lasted about a year before they realized they couldn't do it and screwed up big time. All Production was moved back up here. So now the big-wig that screwed up is the boss of us. (gee why does that sound familar?)

the other factor is the sales manager - he's been chomping at the bit for the VP slot. Lots of back stabbing and back alley office stuff has been going on for awhile, wouldn't be surprised if he had a hand in doing in the former-VP - well now he's been placed in charge of our sales department too, but he didn't get the VP job.
