Why "Speed" was a brilliant, insightful movie
I saw the thread on GenXers vs. Boomers, and I think I know why "Speed" struck such a chord with America.

Keanu Reeves vs. Dennis Hopper - poster-boy GenXer vs. poster-boy boomer.

Either that, or stuff got crashed & blown up real good and Sandy Bullock looked friggin' hot.

You decide.

1. I have my own theory
Personally, I think it was the brilliant acting of Keanu Reeves, the movie that really launched his career (Bill and Ted put aside). That performance was like "woah" ;-)

But what would they do if they made a sequel and it turned out really crappy. What... would... they... do...?

(See what no Keanu Reeves did?)

2. It was Sandra Bullock's driving.....
and on a suspended license at that. What was the line - driving the bus was just like driving her - nova? citation? - but longer....and don't forget the Evel Knievel freeway gap jump.
